Not my favorit indian restaurant. I've eaten here numerous time just because my friends like this place. It's cheap alright but the food quality is inconsistent. Sometimes it taste good, sometimes it doesn't (once their curry tasted old....) Review #17792

Did you know that Rotee delivers? It was a great dinner discovery last night. I've never seen the inside of the restaurant in my life but I know this will be my staple indian take-out restaurant now. It is such delicious and super affordable indian food. My favorite was the chana daal—those lentils were just so tasty! The mixed sabzi was also delicious, similar to the chana daal in taste but with more veggies than lentils. We also ordered the chicken tikka masala but I thought the sauce was too sweet. However, I think you can dip anything with naan and it's delightful. Just one warning, when they say it will take an hour to deliver, it really will take the full hour—so plan ahead if necessary! Can you say welcoming? Can you say surprisingly delicious? Can you say, inexpensive? Rotee will say YES, YES, YES! My favorites included the naan (though I ask for melted butter), the Chicken Tikka Masala (moist tandoori chicken in the most delicious creamy tomato sauce that you will want to pour and pour over rice), and the Galub Jamun (which normally I find cloyingly sweet but was persuaded to try, and oh my God were these indian donuts in rose syrup moist and delicious!). Though parking can be a hassle, service is super friendly. This is one indian/pakistani restaurant you don't want to miss! Review #11789

Checked this place out right after it opened, awhile back. The food took a little longer than we would have hoped, since we were the only ones in the restaurant when our order was taken. The food was tasty, but I've definitely had better indian food. I think I would only go here again if indian Oven were closed and I had a hankering for indian food. Review #11743

I love it the great flavors and dishes for a great price. I recommend the Tandori Chicken and the tikka Marsala. Not necessarily the best in town but a great addition to the neighborhood, if you don't feel like waiting in line at the Oven. The staff was friendly and engaging. The food ample and tasty. The space bright and warm. Grabs some beers at the corner store. Review #11269

I went here b/c they were open for lunch when indian Oven wasn't. The food was good. Yes it was mild but since that's what I can tolerate, I was happy with that. I really enjoyed by Okra dish (vegetarian) and appreciated their garlic naan, mango lassi, and mango chutney. What I didn't appreciate was that all of this together was over 15 dollars and that when I asked if my order of Okra included rice, they said that it did (and it included regular naan) but then, when I got back to my house, I didn't see any rice nor anothey slab o'naan! I don't appreciate the neighborhood either as I am not a pot smoker and the street reeks. The Rotee was empty but extremely clean and smelled delicious. I'll try it again but not for a little while. The food here is okay and quite cheap, but it did take over 25 minutes to arrive at our table. I’d go again sometime but wouldn’t venture far out my way to do so. Review #9093

I have found, in my limited experience with indian food, that heat dominates many dishes and burns out many of the other flavors fighting for my taste buds attention. Here the default spice level is mild, this is not to say they don’t know how to “bring the heat” you just have to ask for it. The décor is modern, light and playful as are the menu descriptions. The Chicken Tikka Masala was good. The Lamb Karahi was perfectly cooked. The Raita was very nice and cooled down some of the extra spicy dishes that Wayne ordered. Share a Mango Lassi, it’s yogurt and mangoes blended, it’s sweet but not overly so and is very filling. They deliver so if you don’t feel like making the trip you don’t have too. Enjoy! Review #8751

Humm… no wonder indian and pakistani [IP] food is so popular, its tasty, spicy, and they use cilantro, and I love it. Now for the record, I’m not an IP expert, and its probably been over a year since I have tried some IP food, and I now feel I have been missing out, tonight we enjoyed many different dish’s, the green stuff [mint chutney] seems to go with everything. I had the lamb Karachi it was spicy and tasty :-), friendly service and clean. It’s located in the lower Haight, if you are not familiar with this area, it,s 100% ready for revitalization :-) a location change would give this a positive. Review #8749

I am generally not a fan of indian food, but I really enjoyed this place! The Chicken Tikka Masala was sooo good that I thought about it longingly for days afterward. This is a funny little Ikea furnished gem in the sketchiest part of lower Haight. I love the neighborhood but it's not for everyone. No alcohol but you can brown bag it in. Free Chai Tea provided from a thermos up front. Again I'm not big on indian food, but I love thai curries. Perhaps the sauces are on the sweet side here? Review #6360

The food here seems to value cost over taste. Everything was a little sweet and bland, which isn't my idea of good indian food. And there was a mildly odd aftertaste in the Aloo Mattar. We got lots of food, and it wasn't too expensive, but I have no plans to return. At least the menu is humorous... Review #4358

I have only had delivery from Rotee, once. I was surprised to see red and green food coloring in the rice- sort of scary. I was disappointed by the food. I would be willing to try it again, however, because the delivery guy was super nice and got to my house quickly. Review #2500
