“ Quality food, quick service and clean place. I really enjoy going here when I have a guest from out of town. It's a very clean place and the food is different from the usual dim sum places. They have these tasty chicken with onion skewers that are friend, and then they put fresh bell pepper on the outside. TASTY!!! Also the waitstaff clears your table fast and the food is fresh and hot all the time.
It's a little more expensive than other places for the same or better food thou. If you walk a couple blocks up you can get better dim sum, but not the same experience. Make sure you get there in the morning :D ”

“ Went here last week with a friend and loved it! They cart around tons of different delights and present them to you at your table. I loved the shrimp in egg noodles and everything else for that matter. Not too expensive either. ”

“
After reading many positive reviews I tried City View. Arrived just before 1pm on a Saturday. It was a cold January day and the temperature inside the restaurant was colder than it was outside. Every single customer had their coat on!! Not only did this make the meal uncomfortable all the food on the carts was cold as well!!
I wouldn't necessarily write off a restaurant for what might be a one time incident when they had a problem with the HVAC but things did not get better from there. The variety of dim sum was shameful. The usual offerings were there but nothing more. Shrimp & Chive balls, Shrimp balls, Sui Mai, pork buns - - not much else. I was surprised at the lack of choice. This is why I will not return. Too many better choices in San Francisco! The dim sum we did have was good. ”

“ When I went to lunch at City View on Friday, I knew that it had a great reputation for good DimSum. It certainly lived up to my expectations with a variety of high quality chinese food from the seafood to the chicken to the pork rolls, I have to say that I found it all quite delicious. The place was crowded but we were about to get a table for two with no trouble at all. The only suggestion for improvement I would make is with how people are greeted and seated. When I entered the restaurant I saw a group of people standing around waiting and a lady who appeared to be a hostess. I asked her if I could get my name on the list twice but she just walked away. I asked a fellow customer who said that sometimes you have to grab her attention. I took this advice and once I got her attention, I was actually seated immediately. The pricing is very reasonable and I would say this is a great spot for lunch and look forward to returning soon.

“ Always been here with large groups, and huge round tables always accomodate. Reservations recomended! I love all their dim sum, but it seems I'm always waiting for that one item to be brought out. I end up being stuffed anyways, because I order so many other things. It's crazy! But I like it. Like sesame balls for desert. I have no idea how much individual items cost, but I was there with 12 people, and it cost ~$20/person - not bad! Just drink as much tea as you can - they bring new pot right away.

“ Good place for large groups. We've hiked here several times from work and not been disappointed. You get a lot of good food for your money. Average price per person has been anywhere from $13-22. It really depends on the number of people. The larger your group the cheaper it is and you can get more variety. Ordering a noodle dish keeps the price down. Try the Cha Siu So, they are little triangles of pastry with roast pork inside. The fried meat dumplings are tasty and have a nice thin outside. All the dumplings are good here too. Make sure you bring your appetite.

“ It is amazing to see 12 positive review on this restaurant.. =(
Umm I think their dim sum is disgusting..ha gao have stinky smell to it. and cold. Siu mai ..cold as well..and again weird smell to it.
I saw 12 positive review so decide to try out this restaurant. during my 4th of july visit at SF.and oh boy I was more than disappointed. After trying hai gao and siu mai I just left the restaurant because I rather be starving then eating this crap.

“ This used to be my top dim sum place but others have over taken it. Still very nice to eat at and more expensive than other more traditional places in china town. Good to take out of towners to impress them. Clean and dishes are well made. Will cost you about $100 for 4 people, with beer. Would recommend just to try it out. Classy place and clean. Hidden on the edge of china town in an alley next to the financial district. PS. I had my son's red egg and ginger party here. ”

“ This place is pretty good, definitely one of the better options located in the financial district (albeit on the edge of Chinatown). Good, honest dumplings, clean surroundings, surprisingly modest prices (at least I'm usually surprised when the bill comes). Service can be harried or distracted, but hey, a list of restaurants in San Francisco with poor service would span the Golden Gate. WAY better (and way cheaper) than Yank Sing. I wish there were a couple more like this downtown. ”

“ I went here on the recommendations given here and it was good. The decor is nice, the food is great, and while not cheap, not exorbitantly priced either.
My only criticism is that the tend to bring the same dishes out in waves, so it can take time for a variety of foods to come out. If you're looking for something specific, I'd recommend asking, or be willing to wait.

“ Premier dim sum banquet hall in Chinatown tucked away on Commercial Alley between Kearny and Montgumgai, dim sum chosen to be catered at the Ritz-Carlton. Only open for lunch but you can fantasize that Cantonese dinner entrees cooked by these chefs would be delicious and authentic. Delectable dim sum served here from rolling carts and hand-held trays is superior, tickling every exotic dim sum fancy from myriad assortments. Stand-outs include Har Gow and Siu Mai steamed as translucent dumplings, delicious variations on familiar themes like Chicken Siu Mai, Siu Leng Bow (Little Dragon Dumplings or Shanghai Dumplings), Yu Chi Gow, succulent steamed shark's fin dumplings, even pork Siu Mai also containing shark's fin, sparkling white crystal honey walnut prawns or the delicious candied barbecue pork pastry puffs which literally melt in your mouth enticing you to throw caution to the wind and forget every dietary concern. Serious dim summer's delight, efficient service, sparkling ambience. ”

“ This is my FAVORITE dimsum place!! It's soo nice and clean looking! A great place to take clients or visitors from out of town! It doesn't hurt that this is right on the border of Chinatown and the Financial District! I love their sticky fried rice and walnut prawns!! This is a bit more expensive, so I save meals here for special occasions, but defintely worth it!! Their staples are great, and even offer some more interesting pieces such as crab claws. My favorite is a coconut cake, a white giggly heart dusted with coconut!! Too far and few between!!! This is a must dine place!!!! Do the dim sum, it's yum, yum!! ”

“ We were looking for a new dim sum spot and did some research so we ended up here. It was overall pretty decent. The greens were nice and crisp but lacking in flavour. Har Gow was nice, shrimp crepes nice, sesame chicken was a nice change, not deep fried but stirfried...nice and flavourful. Not as fabulous as my fav Yank Sing ...or even Ton Kiang...but a lot easier on the pocket book. ”

“ Decent dim sum off of Commercial Street. Good hargow, standard fare...I was actually surprised by the house white which wasn't too bad...although I had been drinking mimosas all morning. Standard cart service, but if you're in a rush, make your requests for quicker service. Shrimp crepes, pork buns, shrimp stuffed peppers, etc. Prices are reasonable for good quality. ”
