Food- quality was average, leaning on the poor. The mussels were undercooked, although the sauce it was in was good. The calamari was tender tasted like it was coated in old oil. The veal was overcooked and too salty. The tiramisu was way soggy on the bottom. Service - very prompt and friendly Ambiance - a bit too loud for dinner. I can see why it would be a good place for happy hour though. Seemed to be an over-priced diner to us. Review #21460

It's unfortunate, but service here has definitely declined in the past few years. I have gone to Puccini about a half dozen times and have noticed a loss in attention to details. On my recent visit, a lost reservation started us out on the wrong foot, despite the open table confirmation. Then when served, only three of the five of us received our entrees. After almost 15 minutes, we had to bring this to the servers attention and got a very hurried response. What's going on Pinetti? Please re-examine service - I like Greg's meatballs! Review #16468

I found eating at the restaurant to be very pleasant experience with respect to service, decor and ambiance. It was not loud, as so many restaurants tend to be. I did have issue with the chairs. I am 5' 4" and could not rest my feet (heck even my toes) on the floor and had to use a rung of the chair throughout dinner. It was an obvious distraction during my meal. I had the risotto which was ok, but the gorgonzola overpowered the dish, crowding out the more subtle flavors. I found the focaccia bread to be nice, but as a bread-a-holic, it would not draw me back in. I did not get a sense of "fun" while dining here. My companion had the spaghetti and meatballs, which seemed to be short on sauce, but long on meatballs. The wait staff was very professional and friendly. I give service high marks. I found the prices to be too high for the food itself, it just wasn't that tasty and it came with no salad or veggies, just the risotto... drop prices by 25 or 30% and add a side dish Review #16138

Good place to go for lunch. I love the Focaccia bread they serve w/olive oil. Calamari, Risotto, Crab Ravioli, Chicken Panini....it's all good. Tiramisu is average. Food comes really fast, so it's a great place to go if you are headed to the theater. Review #15664

Eaten here several times and never been disappointed. Great walking distance from Union Square, good atmosphere. Prices aren't bad. Lunch or dinner recommended. Review #8649

In the first Star Wars--meaning the one made in the '70s--When Luke's X-Wing fighter was zooming along the Death Star's lengthy, yet narrow crevice, you knew he was there to plunge his photon torpedo into that tiny little trash chute, and you knew he would get it done. The same can be said for Puccini & Pinetti. It's exactly what you expect. Just go ahead to a northbeach flagship. It's what you wanted to do anyway... Review #8491

I will give it a positive rating just for its amazing happy hour. Appetizers and drinks for $3. The food is pretty good for the value and it is a fun atmosphere. Happy hour is from 4-6 on weekdays. Review #7950

I have been here a couple of times. They market themselves as a fun italian restaurant that is a good value---I think thats a pretty reasonable assesment. THe food is decent, pretty reasonable prices...its near union square so I'm guessing (on my few visits) it has a lot of tourists...but also enough local patrons to make it interesting. It has some cool decor and a friendly atmosphere, happy hours food and drinks. It won't WOW you...but its not a bad spot. Review #6095

comments: I went here for a Christmas party lunch with my co-workers. It was a lot of fun. Not really crowded for lunch during the week. A clean place, bright inside, and colorful decor. I remember the food was good and I had a good time there. Review #4344

I was skeptical of the touristy location, but ended really enjoying my visit. The service was unusually good! From the order, to the water, to the checking back, to the food, to the good byes, they didn't miss a beat. The Chicken Parmasean wasn't on the menu, but they made it anyway for me. Very tasty! Too much speghetti though! Review #2265
