“ I asked the server for 3-4 course lunch menu but she said they didn't offer that. I thought it was odd since it was stated on the menu online. Service was mediocre. I thought the bread was fresh, warm and good. I thought my cold crab dish was good. The sashimi dish I felt like it was bland including the taste of this fish so I was surprised how unappealing the dish was. My entree was a black cod that was partially cooked and no flavoring in it (I think that's why I didn't feel well the rest of the day) and I thought. The fish has a lemon; I believe it was a sage flavor that I thought overpowered the dish. The side mushrooms with green peas were okay but then there was the dot of licorice sauce that I thought was a strange combination. My friend had the shortribs which I thought were yummy and tasty. But the plain slice of hearts of palm and the steam green apple was an odd combination. Overall I think the flavorings for the dish were just not to my taste buds. ”

“ My dining experience in Campton Place was a strange one. The walled interior is softly lit and opulently appointed, yet I did not feel the ambience. The seemingly private setting (in contrast to Michael Minna's open lobby style) gave me a desolate, old fashion feeling. A french Champaign cart greeted us, so we picked our individual favorites ($24 a glass). After some chitchat we ordered from the 3-course menu. The food was skillfully executed for sure, but the portion was the size of a credit card (like what healthy eating supposed to be?) The pairing of some side ingredient was debatable, hence tasted strange instead of exotic. Crab with eggplant compote, lobster with heart of palm puree? (adding fibers, not taste) We enjoyed the french artisan cheese, not prepared by the new chef, but choice selection and wonderful taste. The chocolate savarin/mousse was good too. Service was average and below expectation. Can I call this place “experimental” cuisine for now? Good grief! ”

“ Nice room, good service and an all around nice experience. The dorade entree saved the meal. The asparagus soup was nice, but would probably have been better had it not been foamy. Speaking of the foam craze, we were served a complementary warm cauliflower oyster soup/foam taster that immediately had me feeling that I just fed myself a mouthful of spit. Someone's warm, gamey, kinda smelly spit.

“ Great restaurant, too bad chef Humm is leaving at the end of the month. The dinning room is elegant and the food is great, some innovative touches. It is some what pricey, but is really one of the best dinning locations in the city. ”

“ Michelin Three Star Quality: Campton Place's Chef Daniel Humm's gift to San Francisco with stellar food. The shellacked roast duck for two is one of the City's top dishes, cooked to crispy moist perfection. Presentation is beautiful and everything I've had here is delectable from marvelous beef to succulent halibut: appetizers, entrees or desserts augmented with multi amuse-gueules courtesy of the chef, even featuring a spectacular lobster cappuccio. Every meal here has made me giddy with delight, savouring each and every course and palate cleanser like a 5-act play that ends in fireworks. The foie gras tasting flight alone is a uniquely fabulous dish, delicious and eye popping. I complimented Chef Daniel on this foie gras and his eyes twinkled. Unimaginable. Unbelievable. Brilliant service. Spectacular dining experience. GO for your most cherished special event or when you just need cheering up. Chef Daniel will come out to say hello. I want to be there right now. ”

“ Amazing place for foodies...there's a reason why so many of our City's top chefs have all worked here at some point of their career(Bradley Ogden, Jan Birnbaum and Todd Humphries). With Daniel Humm at the helm, the kitchen is still on course. Amazing tasting menus, outstanding service from the staff, top notch wine list, fabulous cheese cart...love the understated but classic interior. Campton Place is one of my favorite breakfast spots to curl up into one of the comfy, plush booths, have a fabulous breakfast over many bloody marys. ”

“ Definitely in the expensive realm of restaurant dining. But what exquisite flavors that's artfully blended in taste and presentation. Having dined at the french Laundry, very few restaurants now fall in my "excellent" category. But this one does. ”

“ Another great meal at the well-established Campton Place. Elegantly decorated dining area of about 60 guests, just the right size. Super comfy booths with modern glass ornaments to decorate the tables. For my entree this day, a marvelous Walu lightly encrusted and decorated with an assortment of sauces, very nice. You will not see the last of me at this fine dining room. ”

“ I was very bored here - the hushed atmosphere and OVERLY attentive staff was not really my thing. Plus the food was not memorable. ”
