If you're lookin for "NY style pizza" this is the place to go. In all my visits to SF, I was all about that place up Castro street. I was wrong, this is the best pizza on Castro street. Great well baked pizza, friendly welcoming staff. Review #17239

Oh how I miss Vince's on Geary, Victor's on Polk, pizzas made by italians, for italians with occasional Anglos thrown in. Now the people making the pizzas find more comfort in chorizo and tortillas than the pizza experience. The pizza here was ok, but not NYC or even Chicago. The cooks there have attitude, and for me, I need some moxie in the process! The sauce here looks and tastes like it came out of a number 10 can, with some doctoring up so they can call it home made, and the price! pizzas were supposed to be inexpensive, but when you add a extra topping or two we are way past 30 bucks! We made a horrible mistake by ordered the Caesar salad. Hoping for a real Caesar we got tired romaine, with stale croutons, and a basil vinaigrette dressing? Why call it a Caesar if you're going to tweak it that much? Where were the anchovies, the egg? They should put disclaimers on their menu. Oh well what do you expect for a chain operation. I'm on a mission to find and old style pizzeria! Review #14467

i like the pizza here- it's cheap and fast and has a good flavor. may not be exactly ny pizza, but i like the thin crust and the plentiful toppings. Review #10525

Ordered a super combo pizza - extra large - with no sausage and lots of roasted garlic. Whew lots of garlic. This pizza was ok, but the crust was overdone and a little tough. Have had their pizza before and thought it was excellent so a bit disappointed today. Will give it another try one of these days. Review #9750

Marcello's is greasy, Nizario's is *not* New York style pizza. Escape from NY is the only authentic option in the Castro (this coming from someone who enjoyed real Neapolitan & Sicilian pizza in Jersey growing up). The pesto/potato one is nice (you'll either love it or hate it), but the regular cheese one is still my favorite. Review #7709

I'm from NY, this is NOT NY pizza. Often soggy, overpriced, salty, and there are 2 better options within a block (Marcellos and Nizarios). Skip it. Review #5186

Go to Marcellos. Not as salty, and less like cardboard. Review #4120

It's fairly good NY-style pizza, though Marcello's on Castro is better. Handy when you're on Haight and want food though. Perhaps when waiting for a movie at the Red Vic. Review #2526

Do you ever, um, get the munchies and need a GIANT pizza? Call Escape, get delivery, live happy. I recommend You Say Potato. The downside, the XL box is so big, it will not fit in the recycling bin. The upside, free box- great for crafts. Review #2505

Very good fast food pizza offering the usual pizza standards as well as some gourmet slices including roasted potato & roasted garlic (whole clove) with Pesto. Draft & bottled beers available. Review #1238
