Neutral Cuisine: Hamburgers Portola heights
We just moved to the neighbourhood so we had to give 'em a try. We only live 2 blocks away...but even at that I think take out effects the taste. We shared a tower burger and tuna melt with fries and onion rings. The onion rings were tasty...nice flavour without being toooo greasy---for Onion rings that is :0) Fries were decent. Burger was average...nothing to write home about...but if we crave a burger and don't want to go too far...we would return...in fact i know we will. Tuna melt was below average. No flavour in the tuna and the rye bread---which I love---tasted like it was slathered in some fake butter flavoured oil to be "melted" in---not good...too bad...i LOVE a good tuna melt. ” Review #18818

this one is from my niece who raves about this. granted he is 17 and goes to school across the street- so that this is her joint for lunch but it says something that they are packed everyday for lunch! Review #10234

This name came up as one of the best burger joints in town. I don’t know why, because the balance of meat to bread was too much! I hate it when the bread makes the burger tower on the plate, and hides the taste of the meat. ( HINT: some places dig out the bread more to fit the meat). If they used a lighter bun, it probably would improve the burger. Normal condiments, limp lettuce, fries were looked like they were frozen, but, the prices were reasonable! They have the normal lineup of sandwiches and diner food. I don’t know why this one was on any list other than being a local dive. There is absolutely nothing special about this place other than parking in front! Too many better places to go it in the city! Sorry, no repeat visits here! Review #5052

I've been to Tower Burger many times and never have been disappointed. If you're interested in taking out, make sure you don't have to go too far, because your fries will get cold by the time you get home! :) Review #3621

This Portola Heights neighborhood joint has never let me down (over 10 trips and counting). The burgers (made with beef from Niman Ranch), the salads (surprisingly large), and the fish and chips (accompanied by the best cole slaw I've ever had) will satisfy most people. On my last trip I had a turkey cheese(jack)burger. It was great, and a side of fries--also delicious. It's not expensive (2 ppl. about $15-20--perfect for a casual meal), and you don't have to wait long for your food. Review #2560
