“ One of the regular restaurants I go to. I've been going there for ~5 yrs. Great drinks, good food, & decent prices. Also, great atmosphere. The vegetarian sampler platter is a favorite.

“ Noodles of all types…asian-indian-chinese-thai, great food at reasonable prices. Excellent mix of flavors. Six varieties of noodles to choose from. Try the spinach ramen topped with smoky vegetables and fresh lotus root, or the sweet mango noodles, perfectly paired with scallions and hot pepper. Service could be a little better, but the food is so good, it's worth the wait.

“ I t think this is a fine little neighborhood spot. Good appetizers. I enjoyed my very non traditional chicken tortilla roll up thingies. My partner had a noodle and chicken dish that he enjoyed. The service was friendly and the back patio was fun. We split a very tasty slice of chocolate cake for a sweet. This isn't fine dining, but it's nice enough. ”

“ With a beautiful heated patio (or indoor seating), fun mixed drinks, and plenty of vegetarian options, Nirvana is a great date place, or fun for a group. My favorite is the grilled salmon appetizer. The menu does have a lot of pasta options, so carbo-counters, beware! Service is friendly and prices are pretty inexpensive (esp. for dinner). A fun choice in the hopping center of the Castro! ”

“ Still my favorite Castro place to grab an inexpensive healthy meal. Not a drinker so cannot comment on those. Once upon a time the Buddahs delight was my favorite main dish, but somewhere along the line they changed it and it fell off my must have list. I replaced it with the Iriwaddy Chicken. Now, I am on the smaller side and rarely clean my plate in a restaurant, but I must say it is a rare day when I leave a scrap of this dish behind. It just hits the spot. I have usually had acceptable to good service from the wait staff. I love sitting on the patio for that relaxed feeling or sitting up near the windows when I want to see and be seen. The appetizer sampler platter is always a favorite and I am often tempted to order it instead of a main, but my momma's little voice usually prevails and I go with the more balanced main. Looking forward to many more satisfying & affordable meals served in a nice fun environment. ”

“ really nice california/asian cuisine. large portions so you can take some home. you choose what kind of noodles. i really enjoy the peppered veggies and spinach raman noodles with soy protein. nice mix of seasonal veggies. their mixed appetizer of spring rolls, onion bread, tofu and samosas is really nice- lots of dipping sauces to try with it. was able to bring a bottle of sake i'd bought after a day in napa/sonoma and they let us drink it without a corking fee (nice waiter). their staff has always been quite attentive. i enjoy the place quite a bit and go there often. ”

“ took my gf there on a friday night, but we were not impressed at all.
food was average; drinks were not good, and the services was below average. i finished half of the appetizer, then they brought the diner cloths and utensils out. the so-called peking duck spring rolls were horrible (some microwaved costco stuff). and the noodles were just ok.
not your romantic scene neither. the music was just way too loud.
had the spring rolls, two drinks, prawn noodles, and grilled chicken noodles. $45 out the door - price was decent, but not cheap. ”

“ My bf's mom picked out this restaurant...based on a recommendation from the guy working at the bike rental shop at Fisherman's Wharf. Drinks/bar: good. Host: very nice (& hot!). Food: bland...but a good intro to non-asian food for the average Arizonan (bf's mom's new man). Waiter/server: indifferent, inattentive, untimely. Patio: great! ”

“ Nirvana: don't bother with a meal.
The drinks are knock-you-down strong, and the inside space is hopping with gorgeous, young Castro boys. The back patio is where it's at if you are looking for some down time. It's lushly decorated with flora and comfortably heated by lamps and tiki torches.
Seriously, stick to drinks and maybe the appetizer sampler plate. Tofu satay is excellent.
The entrees, however, are bad asian knock-offs. Don't be fooled by the amorous "asian-fusion" adjective. Noodle dishes are overcooked, and essential flavors, like shrimp, vegetables, chicken, and spices, are lost in the mushiness.
One drink, two or three straws, and the appetizers, and you're good to go. ”

“ I went to Nirvana last Friday at about 7:30. I was really happy to get a seat right away and also to see outside on the patio. Even though it was a cold/foggy night, the heaters on the patio kept it very comfy. The service was very good, but the food and drinks were just mediocre. I had the prawns with noodles. I don't have a specific criticism of the dish, but it just wasn't that thrilling. My friends an I also shared the appetizer platter. I liked the samosas, but the bread, egg roles, and fried tofu were nothing special. To drink I had the gin Cosmos, which was also just okay. On the up side, it wasn't very expensive. But I've had much better for the same price. Overall I'd say the ambiance was nice, service very good, food so-so, prices reasonable. ”

“ Love this restaurant, but the items can be hit or miss. LOVE the green papaya salad, and the ginger (?) salad, and the spinach noodles with either the smoked picante curried vegetables, or "Man o Mango". Some of the other items have been underwhelming, so don't expect consistent quality among everything on the menu. ”

“ Great place, great food, Cute servers, Pan-asian cuisine at its finest! I always have to order the appetizer sampler platter, you get to taste all the appetizers and their respective sauces in one big plate (make sure to come with a gaggle of your hungriest friends). They used to serve this Fookienese soup that was soooo incredibly delish, but alas they don't serve it anymore. You can order other noodle soups there. You know that they put some thought in their Preparation and their Presentation, the ever important two P's! Kudos on your PP's! ”

“ I get in a Nirvana mood when I want to go out, but I'm not ready to start dancing right away. It's a great warm up because it is bustling and colorful. I like the appetizers and drinks. I agree with other reviewers who said that it can be loud and pricey. ”

“ Nirvana is always a crowd pleaser. There may be a line and it can be noisy, but once seated the service is often lightening speed. Nirvana's menu offers interesting Pan-asian flavors for both tame and adventurous palettes at reasonable prices. Portions are adequate so you don't 'need' the enticing appetizers. I also reccommend the cocktails. ”

“ *shrug* What's the big deal about this place? Mediocre in all ways. We had to wait for a long time for our table, then we got one close to the door and it was pretty cold. Our food was alright, but I can find similar foods closer to my house. ”

“ In the heart of the Castro, Nirvana serves up really good food that's very reasonably priced (Many options under $10). Full bar, patio seating, friendly staff. Try the appetizer sampler. ”
