Basic italian food, nothing surprising, no funny business. But I think this is a good choice in North Beach because it feels much less touristy than the majority of restaurants in the area. It also helps that it is a small place and that it is not on Columbus. There is nary a dessert here, so afterwards you'll want to head over to Caffe Greco for a cannoli. Review #19382

Sodini's is one of my favorite first date recommendations. Cute, cozy and romantic without overdoing it and without costing a fortune. Everything is tasty and feels very authentic in a very unauthentic-feeling North Beach (italian is oozing out of olive skinned man trying to woo you at every doorstep!) Review #18491

Very large portions and the pizza is the best. Never have been disappointed even knowing the wait is at least 40 minutes. The whole place smells like garlic and will make you hungry. They don't serve desert they want you to try bakeries or gelato places in the neighborhood which is a nice community thing to do. Review #16558

Do you want the feeling you are in a real italian establishment? Maybe a place that actually serves good food? Or you want to remember a good meal for once? THEN YOU MUST GO HERE! It lacks nothing but place to feed all the people that want to eat there. The food is incredible bursts of flavor in every bite! Sensuousness like my having something that they told me in church was a sin! But don't just feel guilty for eating such rich food...ENJOY IT! Friendly service, happening space and food worth whatever I can afford to pay! They could raise their prices and I wouldn't notice. I have to go back soon. Well, almost anything! Try it! you will love it! Review #15675

Fun, cozy, unpretentious north beach experience. The staff is friendly and quick, the pasta tastes like it was freshly made, and the sauces are rich w/ out being too heavy. It's worth it, if you have to wait for a table on the weekends. The pizza is good too & it's fun to draw on the tablecloth w/ the crayons they give you. Review #12966

Went there on a Friday night, it was crowded but not too much. The food was good, although not as great as some other reviews mentioned. We had Penne al Pesto and Tortellini alla Carbonara, the sauces are quite heavy. The ambiance is nice, it's a little noisy as you would expect. Didn't have wine this time, so I can't comment on the wine list. Review #9933

This really is 'the' place to go for that old world 'this is North Beach' feel..a cosy charming restaurant with bar..the food is consistently good and after dinner you are right in the heart of the action on Grant and Green...and if you get hungry after a few hours hitting the bars, grab a slice of their pizza at Golden Boy just down the street. I absolutely fell in love with the atmosphere. The food was wonderful and the people were very friendly. I don't live in San Francisco but I can tell you that every time I visit the first place that I go to is Sodinis. Even the owner was there meeting and greeting the customers and serving them drinks. I cant specify what entree I like the best because they are all good including the appetizers. The restraunt itself was amazing and the people working there were incredible! Review #9173

Very good--What I remember about eating out in the city before eating out in the city was something that could take three months to pay off. The pesto gnocchi and seafood linguine were both excellent. The caesar salad was enough for two. A bottle of wine was reasonable, and the whole meal was great. They pack them in there, but we got in early and there was no wait. No dessert, but there is a candy shop up on Columbus that can easily take care of an after dinner sweet tooth. Hoof it up and over Pacific to Van Ness, and the whole thing is guilt free to boot. Review #8075

If you eat italian in North Beach, step off the over-trodden Columbus Street path and indulge in an old fashioned, American-style italian meal at Sodini's. Nothing original about the food, but enough warmth and charm to win over anyone. And make sure to squeeze in at the bar while you wait for a table -- this is one of the few places that will know how to make a Negroni. Classic North Beach character, a great neighborhood bar, and servers who make you feel like family. Review #6850

Best Caesar in North Beach and yes, it is for two (unless it's all you're having). Calamari is good but the best part about Sodini's is it's "old neighborhood" charm...oh yeah and Anna the bartender. Come in on Tuesday nights for a signature Liz Taylor cocktail - a syrupy concoction with an ingredient for each husband and colored the same startling violet as her eyes. Make a reservation for the "wise-guy" booth and don't forget your fedora -this place is the quintessential neighborhood favorite. Review #6406

Good food, great atmosphere. Don't look for pretentious here, just look for a really wonderful eating experience. You'll feel like you're eating italian food like your momma made, even if you're not italian. Review #5893

You can always count on Sodini's. Don't try to tackle the house salad by yourself. It's definitely for two. The carbonara sauce is what I always get - they have the best one that I have ever tried. The owner is often working behind the bar, and he always makes us feel welcome. Waitstaff is friendly. Review #1630
