we went here on a thursday night at 9pm...no trouble getting in. 3 of us shared the trio of ceviche. The tuna and the squid ink were great but the traditional was WAY TOO citrusy...it overpowered the fish. The fried mixed seafood app was good...not greasy perfectly cooked ,but not a lot of flavour. The dungeness crab app was not very good...you couldn't taste the crab at all through the potato...it didn't taste bad...but the crab should be the focus. The "off the menu" steak was excellent...perfectly cooked & nice flavour. Unfortunetly they put the fries on the bottom so they are all soggy and inedible. The sangria was perfect, great flavour and not too sweet. Service was great! We will be back. Overall great experience. Review #19167

Compared to the Noe Valley venue, it's good, but not as exciting and it's smaller and more crowded. I was really disappointed in my peruvian paella because it tasted like a stir fry with seafood...it was tastier the next day at lunch, but uninteresting at the restaurant. The salchipapas are great as are the ceviche and lomo saltado. The service is attentive and I was really put out by my family claiming that their alfajores are just as good as mine. Review #16985

Lunch here yesterday was excellent. I did not know the portions were so huge however. Too much on the plate folks!!! I watched the plates go back to the kitchen and almost every one had food left on it. Too Much Food!!! However, I have to say it was very tasty. Unfortunately, we split a crab salad first and that was enough. The main course was Too Much Food. Got the idea, Fresca owners? You could save money by serving smaller portions and not wasting so much. Service was good, by the way and they were very busy. I will return and split my order with a companion. Review #16066

Had dinner here yesterday and it was quite tasty. I had the ribeye steak which was good and it came with rice, two fried eggs, fries, sweet plantains, and mushroom and onion. The plate was HUGE! I didn't really like the fact that the fries was soaked on the sauce (which is a tad bit on the oily side) but I guess that's how they do it? We also had the Crab Cake with mango sauce which was nice. The service was on the verrrrry slow side but when the waiter got around in giving us water and taking our order, he was nice. Review #13574

The dishes that work - not all of them do -are worth the trip in spite of the poor service. For those who haven't tried peruvian food, I encourage you to do so. Their sauces are fun, as they combine their own native ají (peruvian chile) with fruits and other unexpected ingredients. I really liked the Halibut, the seafood or hen ají, and the broiled chicken with a delicious cilantro salsa verde. Even salads are well dressed . Ceviches are average but still good, same goes with their beef dishes (lomo y churrasco). Accompaniments are atypical and tasty (quinoa or hominy). Portions are very generous. If you've been on an anti-war hunger strike for 2 weeks reward yourself with the "Bistec a lo pobre" (steak for the poor). A huge steak, plantains and fries, topped with 2 big fried eggs. Talk about supersizing your meal! Not on the menu but they'll be glad to make it for you. Review #12324

This is the first time i tryed peruvian food and this place did not disappoint.I had the Lomo Saltado which is steak, tomato, and french fries. The steak and tomato was so juicy and tender. The french fries were kind of soggy though but maybe it is like that because its mixed with the steak and tomato. I also had the tortilla soup which was big enough for two people. It tasted ok but wasn't hot enough. The place was nicely decorated. The service was pretty good but when I had left overs he didn't help me pack it. Earlier I saw the waiter help another group pack there left overs, so it left me puzzled. Maybe I looked too young or something. I would go here again though. Review #10808

the mother ship of the chain started out as a wraps place back during that ill fade and evolved. this is good evolution and although crowded and the service is slow I like this one the best of the three! I hate the noe branch! Review #10190

Though it's a little pricey, Fresca is a great place. I went with a group and got to sample several dishes and all of them were superb. Service was okay. I guess it's quite hard to attend to every customer in a timely manner if the restaurant is always full. Is it worth the trip to the outskirts of SF? I say yes. In contrast to a previous review, I think West Portal is slowly, but surely becoming the next Fillmore. Shopping-wise, it is comparatively lacking. But as for restaurants, I don't think there's actually any bad one in the whole neighborhood. Review #8808

They may have started the peruvian trend, but considering the level of the competition (LIMON, go to LIMON!!) Fresca is not even worth trying.. horrible service and average food. Probably survives solely as a neighborhood joint. Review #8543

Omigod, this is the LOUDEST restaurant ever! I had to scream across a table for two like I was at a show. That's not a negative remark though. Portions are excellent, definitely fills you up. A bargain for their whole chicken served with fries and salad? 10.50! We had this appetizer that was like an egg/avocado salad but in a form of a beautiful dessert piece. Definitely worth a visit. Service was very friendly. Review #7377

Yum! This place has some real tasty foods. The steak with fries are full 'o sauce, and salty and very delicious. The sangria is lovely as well. It's affordable too and that's always appreciated by a poor soul like myself. Review #5973

Not always easy to get seated but the food makes up for it. Their roast chicken is wonderful and their version of crab rangoon (with shrimp) is quite good. You can also get the chicken to go. Review #4398

when they first started as a wraps place, thank god trends die, I was in once and never thought anything of it. my kids liked it and so we started going. in that time we watched the slow then rapid transformation of this place into what is now becoming a mini chain. one on filmore and one soon to open in noe on 24th. for me they are(outside of the peruvian chinese place on mission and geneva) the original peruvian fusion place in SF. the ceveche can be a little acidic at this branchone and the sangria is only fair tasting and the lines can force you to eat elsewhere in this little village, butfor me it is the main courses here, pricy but yummy. As far as nuevo latino in this town this place, limon, destino, and tamal are all tops on my list. Review #3481

Good peruvian food with friendly service. The ceviche is excellent and the steak strips with french fries (Lomo Saltado) are the best! If you order the tortilla soup, be forewarned that it takes 2 people to finish or you won't be eat your main dish! Be prepared to wait as the dining room is not very big. Review #1735
