This is a popular neighborhood spot; lots of regulars that seem to all know each other. Cozy exterior, with booth lined walls and a few tables in between. Service was accommodating and friendly. I had the Panini with mozzarella, Gorgonzola, goat and grana cheeses with arugula and Sicilian olives, all atop grilled country bread ($8). More of a european grilled cheese that a Panini, they grilled the bread with butter stove top rather than with the italian sandwich press. This sandwich was delightful, filled with ingredients I enjoy, however would have never thought Gorgonzola and mozzarella would be a good match, it works. I added a small salad ($3), which made for a rich and memorable lunch. Recommended. Enjoy! Review #21162

We had a table of six for lunch and it was really good! A cozy neighborhood feel and a hefty lunch menu with lots of tasty sounding things to choose from. Everyone enjoyed what they ordered. Everything came out fresh and timely. Food is mostly organic and seasonal. Service was ok. Review #20376

I went for lunch and it was fantastic. I had the crab panini, which was a special. It wasn't actually a panini, but then maybe I don't know the true definition of panini. It was super full of crab and cheese. Crab and cheese doesn't sound that good, but this was delicious. I also ordered a side salad which was fine. I could go for another crab panini today... Everyone else enjoyed their lunches. One person said that they don't have many vegetarian options. The focaccia was also tasty. Review #16648

We came here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. We got the window booth and ordered glasses of sauvignon blanc and chardonnay to sip on a warm indian summer day. We all ordered various paninis, which were tasty. And the warm chocolate cake was divine. Our server was very attentive and I love the small neighborhood feel of this restaurant. Review #9665

Nice, warm, and cozy restaurant. Good place to enjoy the food and the conversation. My favorites are the ravioli filled with butter-squash (back on the manu again!!) and the crab cakes. Review #9380

The worst part of ANY restaurant is a waiter who is not attentive to its patrons. Our water took forever to be refilled. He didn't bother to ask how I wanted my pork chop to be cooked, so it came overcooked, dry and tough. It seems that the famous ingredient that the chef had up his sleeves was olive oil. The bread, salad and the entree were drenched in oil. I would definitely NOT go back. Skip this place; there's a few other must-go bistros across the street in this Potrero Hill neighborhood. I've been eating here a few times a month for a long time now. I haven't once be en disappointed. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant, and the food is all outstanding. The tagliolini with smoked bacon, jalapenos, garlic and roasted to matoes is one of my favorites. The crab cakes are fantastic, as are the mussels. The specials are _always_ excellent. The chef is creative with interesting mixes of flavors that always work. The recently added roasted peach salad is very good. The chocolate souffle is lovely, my friends often want to go here just for this! You can't go wrong here. One of my favorite restaurants. Review #8370

I love neighborhood restaurants, and even though my neighborhood is in South Beach, I felt right at home @ Aperto. Friendly neighborhood staff directed me to a nice pasta dish. It's a small place so a small wine list, but the atmopshere and food were nice. I've also been there for breakfast/brunch and the offering was nice. Tip, grab your coffee @ Farleys 2 blocks down on 18th street. Review #5881

I just dined at Aperto again recently and must reiterate what a lovely little neighbourhood restaurant it is. Being a resident of Potrero Hill, I try not to visit Aperto too frequently. It is however, a lovely place for both lunch and dinner - and on weekends, they offer a delicious brunch menu. The specials change daily and they offer a special item from each section of their menu. Their roast chicken is delicious and presents a remarkable value. Their pasts dishes are lovely as well. On weekends, I enjoy their hash scramble. This is a perfect restaurant for a mellow weeknight indulgence. They don't take advance reservations, adding to the local neighbourhood feel of the restaurant. I do, however, believe that they take advanced reservations for big parties (6? 8?). Give it a try!! Review #5156

It was cold and wet outside, but warm and cozy inside. I like small quaint places where the chef is not afraid to put their skills on display. I had the chocolate souffle with a wet nut mixture and fluffed cream. It wasn't overly sweet but had a warm cakey outside and oozing chocolate center. Very comfortable on the tasetbuds. The pasta dishes looked excellent as I glanced to my dining neighbors plates. I'll go back for with friends and family. Review #3736

Nice, welcoming, cozy neighborhood trattoria which attracts many regulars - even me and I don't even live in Potrero Hill... or SF, for that matter! Everything is really good. To start you might want to try the big chock-full-o'-fresh-crab crab cakes with not-too-spicy aioli. To follow that you might choose a perfectly cooked steak or one of the fresh pasta dishes. And all the desserts are made in house, so have half your dinner boxed up so you'll have some room for some! You really can't go wrong no matter what you order. If you have to wait for a table, you can have a glass of wine while you wait. Review #52
