Positive Cuisine: Chinese Mill Valley
What a tasty treat! Little did I think HARMONY could dazzle my taste buds in a strip mall in Marin County! But what a wonderful surprise. Can not compare this cuisine to anything I have tasted prior in any chinese restaurant. I am a regular at Yank Sing (6 times a month!) and can't compare HARMONY to it in any way. As far as "dining" comparisons to Clement Street --- it is apples to oranges in comparison. The generous shrimp dumplings, the tea smoked duck , the seasonally fresh, locally organically grown vegetables and the plump prawns made for an outstanding lunch! The beef dishes rival any kobe beef available. Prices are certainly not Clement St., nor are they as over the top as Yank Sing---right in the middle---but the value for your money is worth every penny you spend! Don't forget to try the peapods! (Ask for any specials the kitchen may have for the day!) Overall one of the best chinese dining experiences ever! Real Value for your money! Review #19201

Negative Cuisine: Chinese Mill Valley
Decor and menu = beautiful. Otherwise a trendy and overpriced disappointment. Noise level very high considering the small dining room size. We were three adults, two kids seated at a large center round table and had to huddle together to hear each other. Had to request everything piecemeal - the right number of place settings, forks for the kids, water refills. Food arrived haphazardly - a dish advertised as extra hot was lukewarm, and the dumplings arrived last. The food was tasty but not nearly as good as Tommy's Wok in Sausalito, and the portions were tiny. The same size forks and spoons are used for serving as for eating - that cutlery is hard to rest on the appetizer-sized plates, which led to silverware clanking on the table. Considering the location in a strip mall and town where the competition is kid-friendly (half the tables included children), coloring materials and small forks might help. Review #18873

Negative Cuisine: Chinese Mill Valley
A new "chinese" restaurant in Strawberry shopping center in Mill Valley. I was there two weeks ago and came away from it less than charmed. Two of us were put at a big round table when there were smaller tables empty. Then we asked to be moved to a smaller table, which they did very nicely. Then we waited - - and waited - - and waited for someone to take our order. Finally a waiter appeared and wanted to know what "you guys would like to order". (we were a man and a woman, not two guys). We gave the orders and, "Thanks you guys" was the response. We got the food and it was good, not great. Teeny tiny portions and big prices! A clay pot with, count em, 3 small pieces of pork. Calamari that was just ok - a bit greasy. My companion had a pot of tea for which we were charged $2.50!!!! And one cup to drink it in as the menu stated that it was for ONE person and they meant it! The waiter kept dropping by to ask, "are you guys ok", "you guys want anything else" etc etc. So skip it.
