Negative Cuisine: Cuban Caribbean San Rafael
We made a reservation for 6:45 on a Friday evening. There were only 3 tables occupied when we arrived. The decor is fun and the music lively we had high hopes. The service started out great, very friendly waiter with lots of suggestions. The appetizers were good, but took more than half an hour to arrive. Our food arrived about 45 minutes after our appetizers. The waiter never came to check on us or refill our drinks (I would have liked another beer, my husband another mojito after such a long wait). I guess he was too busy with all the other tables. My food was quite blan for a food with so much flair, my husband's steak was dry. The waiter finally returned, asked if he could get us anything and apologized for the wait. My husband ordered another mojito which never arrived. Two hours after we arrived we had to ask the bus boy for our check. We won't be returning, there is better food elsewhere. Review #18827

I have been in three times since they opened. Really love this place. Nice change of scene in Marin. Very good food, friendly staff, laid back Island atmosphere. They are still getting into their groove with the service but everything is so pleasant you won't mind. Try the garlic shrimp - very yummy!! Review #18047

Positive Cuisine: Cuban Caribbean San Rafael
Brand new venture, open just a few weeks. Festive decor with blinking lights fake palm trees. Colorful Carib theme decor. No Scary voodoo-Santaria decor like at Cha-Cha-Cha on Haight St. cuban / Carib street vendor type food choices. Lots of deep fried items. Cheap! prices. Friendly staff. Next door to the extremely popular Sol Food Puerto Rican Cuisine #2. Are we having a caribbean food invasion in San Rafael? If yes, it's a welcome change. Review #17756
