I had friends that went here and I thought "ah, someday, it's nothing special I guess" and boy was I wrong! I went with my friend Lydia and we shared some plates that were not exactly small plates thankyouverymuch.com! We started with the Spring salad with butter lettuce, pea shoots, fava tenders and herb vinaigrette ($8) which was perfectly dressed. Then we had the Sweet Pea Ravioli with mushroom puree and kohlrabi ($17) which were three large raviolis and filled with the most delightful puree of fresh peas. Fantastic! We got more bread (tasty brioche with a nice herb crust) and ordered our next dish, the Rib Eye. This comes with spinach puree, scalloped celery root, espresso jus and chocolate salt ($24). It's divided into two parts so it's easy to share with the rib eye cut off the bone and fanned out over the celery root. delightful and filling. We each had two glasses of Cab, a Khroma Alexander Valley '05 for $8. Outstanding!!!! Review #19147

I've been on numerous occasions and it's not bad. The place is spacious but not too loud where you have to yell to have a conversation. The food is presented in small plates and for a group of four ppl, about 8 dishes are recommended. Small parties can also opt to eat in full view of the kitchen. Everything was tasty though I could've gone without the Chicken and Waffles dish. I guess I was expecting something you could share, maybe fried chicken tenderloins or strips instead of a 2 fried wings, def not worthy for a party of four. Portions, I feel, could be slightly larger since you are sharing – basically they were wee-small appetizer portions but so goes the small plate craze. We paid appx $50 pp w tip - a bit pricey for the area and I did feel hungry about an hour later. Otherwise, great staff, service and food. Review #17906

After taking a day off from work I decided that I was feeling better and wanted to go to the movies... as with anything that I do with my friends it always ends up in a bar or a too fancy restaurant at some point. So finally my two friends and I get to Brick after a few drinks down the road at the Hemlock. We sit at the bar. The bartender is nice and he recommends a pretty great bottle of white wine, I drink the first half of my glass so fast that I decided to order a beer just to help pace my liquid consumption. We got some food and that is really where Brick hits the wall. The only good thing that we had were the confit buffalo wings with the Gorgonzola foam... I'll admit that these were good enough to make me want to come back when they have the half off wine night on Tuesdays. Anyway, the rest of the food was just trying WAY to hard and at $15 per plate (we are talking 3 bites of food) they should have been much better. Everything else was good but I couldn't help to Review #17707

The food was ok, the portions were really small, and after 5 shared dishes I left hungry. The place has potential, but they need to step it up. Review #17495

You really need to observe what people around you are eating at 'small plate' places, if you're concerned about not leaving full. We had ana excellent meal here - started with the fries - a generous, not to mention, delicious dish. What we had after that was smaller portions - but tasty and well prepared.- ribs, gnocchi and fig salad. They have excellent cocktails and the place has a great buzz. Review #16759

This restaurant could be the perfect restaurant depending on what you're looking for. This is the perfect destination if you're looking for a launch pad for a night out in the tenderloin with friends. The menu is all about sharing. We ordered one of pretty much everything on the menu and LOVED it. I went in expecting small portions based upon what I'd read here and was surprised to see some fairly sizable plates. The fig salad was awesome. Short ribs were amazing. Even the fries rocked. Eat here. They've figured it out. Review #16307

The food was tasty especially the burgers, fries and the mac & cheese. However it was ridiculous to see how small the portions were for some of the other items and compare that with the cost, not really a good combo. We left still hungry but paid about $40 p/p. Restaurant itself was nice and the service was good. Review #16264

Got to agree that the final bill really adds up, but the food is great and the staff are incredibly friendly. They all seem just excited to be there which really goes a long way in convincing me this is a good spot. Review #16014

Good quality californian food in a nice atmosphere. We ordered the gnocci, which was original and tasty. However, there was such a snall quantity that I actually though the narrow bowl the pasta was presented in was only the sauce rather than the complete platter. Review #14858

First, the food quality is very high. Everything was extremely tasty, from the ricotta gnocchi ($12) to the blue chz burgers ($13). The Mac n Cheese ($8) was my favorite. The space is open, stark and mod...I love the warm tones of the brick wall. The staff is friendly and attentive, and though this was day 3 they already seem to have a following at the bar. However, I have to confess that after $70 my guest and I were pretty hungry. The portions are the tiniest I have ever seen anywhere...in the world. We thought the first dish brought to our table was merely a teeny dish of relish for a future main course. Wrong. It was an entire dish of gnocchi when we looked more closely. very closely. The burgers were two inches at most. The soup was a dab of asparagus over a scrap of crab. Everything had great flavor, but I don't think I should be hungry after $70 of comfort food. Review #13890
