“
This is a good place to eat! The service is always good, the ambiance is very pleasant and the food is delicious. I was here last Saturday with three friends for dinner. About my 5th time at the Buckeye. The calamari appetizer was scrumptious, the brisket of beef was perfect. Shared an excellent lime pie, one of my favorite desserts.
My only (slight) complaints: too much food on the plate tends to turn me off as I know I cannot eat it all. Also the Manhattan was off a little. Not a real zinger. But those are quibbles. Left the restaurant feeling very satisfied, as I always do. ”

“
Word of mouth is good and so is a big mouth to savor Buckeye's hamburgers! My friend Ray and his wife live in Mill Valley so they were the ones that told me about this place. After all , its better to get reviews or shall I say initial reviews(before I write one) from locals , they know where to dine.
I have seen this place on the side of the road numerous times on H -1 but never thought on stopping in till I got a heads up. Go and savor the food here it really is most excellent( like Dude-its way cool).
This place is a little bit pricey when it comes to like hamburgers for about $13 and the baby back ribs for about $19..steaks around $30. I would highly recommend reservations here..even for lunch. If you are in Marin, stop on over to Buckeye's Roadhouse..follow it up with a trip on over to Stinson Beach! ”

“ the food was excellent. to my taste, a bit salty, but most people like more salt than i do, so i figure it was probably perfect in that way for anyone else. the waitstaff was so great. very attentive without being overbearing. my waterglass was always refilled without me ever having to ask. the only thing i think people should note, not the place you want to take someone hard of hearing. my friend couldn't hear much of anything. the place has so much wood and stone that none of the sound is absorbed. and since this place is constantly full of people, the place is always full of noise. not an inexpensive place, but the food quality is high. the grilled artichoke appetizer was fabulous! some of the best artichoke i've ever had. the ahi tuna was perfect, the beef was fabulous. couldn't make a bad choice here. but not a place for vegetarians really. ”

“ Dinner here was very very good. This is a great spot for a quasi romantic outing, as the tables can be a bit close, but that huge roaring fireplace sure makes things cozy. This place isn't inexpensive, but the food quality and portions were in line with the pricing and ambiance.
I had the Mongolian Spiced Pork Chop with Apple-Apricot Chutney and Mashed Potatoes. Very good, about $20. My date had the salmon and seemed quite pleased. Reservations. Definitely make reservations. Very good food, very good service, very good fireplace, very good ambiance. ”

“ Great restaurant! Agree with all the reviews that you need a reservation. I went there on a Wednesday night @ 6:00 pm, without reservations and had to wait 45 minutes. The place seemed to be all around top notch and classy. Great food and great wine list. Expect to pay at least $75-$100 a person with wine/cocktails. The artichoke appetizer was delicious as was the duck entree. ”

“ Singularly unique destination restaurant reminding for all the world of some Austrian Jaegerhaus, even in taste, tucked away along Shoreline Highway in Mill Valley offering unique ambience, unique food and uproarious service. The joint is mobbed and even with reservations at peak hours you'll still wait but the atmosphere and the food you receive here are just unlike any other in the Bay Area, multi-layered, hearty, featuring deeply rich flavors beautifully balanced in gargantuan portions. Spectacular oysters bingo served on the half shell roasted with cheese gratin, delectable warm spinach salad, fabulous crab cakes with housemade dill sauce. Enormous entrees featuring delicious chicken under a brick, gigantic lamb shank on a bed of saffron rice, smoked duck with orange glaze with an irresistible mushroom bread pudding. Avalanches of enormous desserts including delicious lemon pudding cake, tangy lime pie, fabulous butterscotch creme brulee. Rafanelli wines reign supreme. Stupendous. ”

“ Great place for a good steak or burger with smoked flavor. The portions are very big and the sides are delicious. It reminds me of the old Hungry Hunter restaurants. I discovered I was the only non-white person in the restaurant including the staff. Just an odd observation. ”

“ A country lodge in Marin dishing out spectacular dishes...? You bet, and they're just as busy now as when they first opened up. Great bar, great service and staff dishing up outstanding comfort food from their mac and cheese, ribs, wings to their salads and steaks, you can't go wrong. It's one of those places I forget about until I'm back on the other side of the Golden Gate coming back to the City...it's definitely worth the trek. I've lost myself many times at that bar enjoying drinks and snacks with friends...too bad I gotta cross the orange monster to get there, but it's worth it. ”

“ The building has been here forever, and this small chain has hit the spot for comfort food! The loud eatery has the atmosphere of an old english pub and had the noise to prove it! The menu sometimes boring, but always decent, with more food that you can eat.(than you should) When they plop down a oval plate with lamb shanks you get the whole damn leg, which after the appetizer and salad is waaaay too much to eat. The fixins are home style ( big servings) and the best part is the bar drinks are stout sized. Parking is in front, but beware you will have to wait unless you have reservations, since this is one of the first places you car is trained to come to off the bridge! Prices are moderate with nothing over 20 bucks a plate, Caesar salad generous for 8 bucks and calamari also 8. NO complaints here, the service is a little aloof, but that's Marin! All in all this is a consistent place! Try the liver and onions for all you L&O fans! it is one of the best in the bay!

“ Most popular restaurant in Marin. Reservations mandatory, anytime. Place is always packed. Free valet parking. Full bar, strong drinks. Good wine selections. Alpine lodge decor. White linens, heavy weight sterling silver flatware, real porcelain dishes, crystal glasses. Smoked meats are delicately flavored with many nuances. Sauces are complex and match perfectly. You ain't eating county fair Bar-B-que here!
I've eaten here 6 times. Every meal was wonderful. I tried a different dish every visit. Highly recommend the filet. Chicken is moist, smoky, saucy, sublime. The sides are comfort food of the highest order. I've had plenty of mac n' cheese over the past 52 years, this is the best so far.
Come with a big appetite. Leave the fussy vegetarian at home, there's not much for them to eat & the carnage will probably upset their delicate balance. Food quality & dining experience here get my highest recommendation. ”

“ Pretty reliable Marin County spot. Good burgers and steaks. Friends have reported their fish dishes to be good. I like the sort of lodge type feeling in the main dining room with the big fireplace. The bar is a nice place to have a quick lunch as well. ”
