I like this place.. I agree that it's not the BEST sushi in SF, but it's okay and I've never felt that it's not fresh or problematic in any way. The service at tables is pretty slow, sit at one of the bars (sushi or drinking) if possible and your service greatly improves. Personally, I like sitting at the bar upfront, having a few drinks (strawberry lemonade - very good!) and ordering a few plates to share with a friend rather than making a sit-down meal of it. The atmosphere - always loud, poppy or electronic music (if you can hear it over the diners), usually film playing against the wall near the entrance. It always seems very clean in the restaurant, which is important to me especially when having sushi. There can be a wait for a table, if you have a large party, you might send someone ahead, or put in your name and wait at Kilowatt. Review #20503

Great deals on delicious sushi and drinks in their happy hour along with innovative but subtle combos. It's the first place I've seen wasabi-infused tobiko (I think it was.) Even though the crowd is trendier than thou (or maybe AS thou), the staff are very friendly. Now I can say I ate a raw quail egg - and it wasn't half bad. The handrolls had big chunks of fish. I love Tokyo Go Go, which is similiar to Blowfish sushi (also good) but more moderate in price. I always go for the Azteca roll and last night I tried the Golden Gate roll and it was delicious. Service is mediocre, but if you sit at the sushi bar, it's much better. Review #18531

Good sushi but I think the trendy ambiance makes them think they can charge more for the same thing you can get for 25% less anywhere else. The cocktails are overpriced and they are greedy with the alcohol. I'd go back if invited by friends, but probably not on my own. Review #17798

sushi here is not so good. The Dragon Roll was really greasy and left bad after taste. I might go back for a drink or two but not a place to enjoy sushi dinner. Review #17794

overpriced. not comfy. the waitstaff was nice but it felt more like they pitied us or found us amusing or something. we actually went and had a second dinner next door because we'd spent so much and none of us felt full. Review #15822

TGG I've been going to TGG for years...I give a positive IF you happen to be siting at the sushi bar, and a NEG for anywhere else. The table service has been consistently awful (disinterested/too-cool-for-school waitresses) for parties of 2 and mediocre at best for 2+ On the positive, the sushi chefs are attentive, helpful and really worth the visit. Great quiality fish and creative rolls. Decent drinks, although overpriced and on the light side. Prices have crept up as service has declined...there are way better sushi joints in the city Review #15778

Ok, everyone is going positive on this, but I gotta go neutral based on a to go order that was expensive and really not so great. I'm not a sushi expert but I still gotta put in two cents that it's just ok. Review #15021

If you want to go for Handroll Happy Hour (5:30-7 M-Sat, 5-6:30 Sun), then this place is GREAT! Going on the earlier side and sitting at the bar with a pal is a great way to go regardless, but just in general, it's the only time when it's worth going. Their prices are a little high for what they serve, which is why the happy hour is key. Review #14663

We finally made it over for the happy hour Hand Rolls and $2 hot Sake. Pretty tasty selections and nice presentation. Got lucky and the 4 of us sat in the window booth and enjoyed the music, view, energy, food and drink. Review #13670

After hearing much about Tokyo Go Go, I decided to check out for dinner on a Monday night. The cucumber gimlet was refreshing and quite good. We ordered a bunch of sashimis and the golden gate roll (it was OK) and the Azteca roll. The Azteca was my favorite since its a bit spicy and comes with jalapeno toppings :) The dessert looked good (included ice cream and mochi to name a few) but we were too full to order any more food :) Review #13255

Amazing- from the service to the food. The nigiri is fresh, tasty, and presented well, and the blackened cod as well as the asparagus/spinach salad (a different take on the gomae) top my list for favorites in the city! Review #13067

Great sushi, try the Kobe beef it just melts in your mouth. dessert was pretty good too; delicious cheesecake. Please note, it's pretty noisy on a weekend night and pricey too. Go during Happy Hour for the best deals. Is you are looking for a cool vibe, a place to hang with a bunch of your friends and some interesting cocktails, this is the place. Review #12799

The best sushi in the Mission by far. Definitely pricy, but worth it. All the traditional rolls are great, and they have some really creative offerings as well. DON'T skip the cooked options, they have some really great fish on the menu. If you sit at the bar and complement the chef, he will hook you up with free tastings. The live scallop and salmon skin are the best in the city. Great cocktail list, and very swanky hip decor. Review #6079

A fun place to kick off bar hopping in the Mission. A good choice if you're in the Mission and want some sushi. The sashimi was okay, the rolls are better. The staff is festive and had the beers and sake flowing aplenty. This my friend Fearless' favorite sushi joint... Review #2689

delicious and with happy hour deals- a fabulous sushi choice. While I thought $3 handrolls must mean the same old same old, they have a impressive list of gourmet combinations that are truly fabulous. My favorite: the Dynamite with warm spicy seared scallops that melt in your mouth. yum. Review #2109

This sushi restaurant and full-bar serves up wonderfully fresh and innovative sushi (and japanese standards) in a hip setting to a young 20 & 30-something crowd. The happy hour is a wonderful deal: ~9 $3 handrolls to choose from, $2 draft beers & $2 sakes. Both the waitstaff and the sushi-san were friendly. Gets crowded on weekend nights so make a reservation if 4 or more. If only party of 2, highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar. Review #1973

Hands down this is my favorite sushi place in the city. They have some amazing rolls, high quality fish, and great drinks. The atmosphere is fun, and very hip. They changed their menu and removed a lot of the cooked food, so make sure people in your crew want sushi only. Definitely make a reservation. Review #1311
