It's a good local place. Good sandwiches and martini's. It's not a place I would suggest someone to go out of their way for but it's a good place for a drop in. Review #20748

Luna Park is a fun place to go if you don't mind the noise. They always have a tasty drink special like kumquat mojitos. I love the curry pork sate, and don't like the burger. I've had excellent brunch here too. Review #20675

I'm not a huge fan of Luna Park. But I won't say "No" if friends want to go there. I enjoy the flaming volcano drink for two, but the last time I ordered it, it arrived with a very large dead fly in it. I do particularly like their Fontina Stuffed Ravioli with Mushrooms, Spinach and Truffle Oil. It's a bit oily and thus on the heavy side for something that could be better a bit lighter, but it's just reallllllly yummy. Review #20313

I can now finally say that I have been to Luna Park. Can't believe that it has taken this long. I was not overwhelmed, but I am not holding Luna Park accountable because we were there with a group of 16. It's hard to get everything right with a group of 16. Unfortunately when they told us that they could accommodate 16 people they didn't tell us that it would be at two tables. It was not ideal, but not horrible. They have yummy stuff on the menu like corn dogs and mac & cheese (made with big shells and a white cheese sauce and crunchies on top!) For my entree I ordered the salmon which came with a mushroom ragout and mashed potatoes - it was tasty, but saldly lukewarm. My friend next to me ordered the sea bass with the broccoli rabe and it was great. The best part about the dinner were the creative dessert selections (mini make-your-own caramel apples, make-your-own s'mores, some kind of cookie-ice cream sandwich...) Unfortunately, I don't like dessert! Review #17782

Great atmosphere, but a bit slim on the veggie options, next time i'll probably go for drinks rather than dinner but the pasta dishes are pretty tasty even if it isn't their specialty. Servers perhaps a little too attentive, as they interrupted our conversation on at least 3 occurrences just to check up on us, but other than that a pretty good experience, their bottled beers are significantly overpriced Review #17501

Over the years Luna Park has been a reliably delicious source of rich, satisfying meals. From goat cheese fondue to a candied brussel sprouts/butternut squash side dish that makes the caramelly banana foster seem like a main course, it's so sweet, it's the place to go for a decadent well priced meal. My faves are the mushroom truffle oil ravioli, macaroni and cheese, and the home made smores dessert. Dieters beware! If you're sensitive to noise you will be in major pain! Review #17159

Finally coming back here reminded me why I like this place so much. Sure, the seating is cramped and the wait always long, but it's worth it. The food here is so reasonably price for what you get. Love their mac 'n cheese and the entrees have always been solid. The staff are extremely sweet and always smiling. Notable this time is their pecan chocolate cake, completely smothered with mint chip ice cream - it was heaven. Also noticed this time that they pack in an exceeding attractive crowd. Waiting at the bar is a great opportunity for people watching Review #15768

Use to frequent this restaurant a lot but hadn't been in a couple of years and after re-visiting a couple weeks ago I have a huge hunch that it's gone down hill. A few of us went for brunch and could not believe how slow the service was from the bartender and the waitress. Our apps sat up on the chef counter for so long that we almost went up to fetch it ourselves. It was so weird because the waitress, and the manager who had a black eye just kept looking at the food and not serving it to us. We decided to finally flag down our waitress and say, "uh...can we have our food that's been sitting there, please." Then we get our burgers which we all ordered med rare and they were burnt! Like so burnt my friend talked to the chef later and said..."are you serious?" I don't know what happened to this place but it seems to be unraveling big time. Review #14891

Great thing about the city is when you get burned at a place there are thousand more to discover. The reason we came here was that there was a parking space as we were looking for a place, and what better reason, eh? The place was small and loud, but it was only half full,or half empty. We were seated and ordered drinks which took too long to arrive. (1st down) after our order, the drinks did get there but one was wrong. (2nd) the crowning blow was that one of our entrees was delivered and upon finishing we noticed a well defined greasy boot print on the wooden platter that was used as the serving plate for the chicken. Upon asking the waiter if that standard, he looked at us like we had just insulted his mother, and left, no sorry or I’ll check, etc, Soooooo, sayonara Luna Park, food was ok, (before the shoe print) service was lousy, and attitude was one of the worst I have experience in many years! Forgetabdid! I’m outahere! Surprise their plate glass windows aren’t boarded up? Review #8300

This place is no bueno. The steak I had tasted like fried liver, the wait for the food was annoying, and the $8 drinks were the size of a small can of V8. Why would anyone who started a place like Chow, downgrade so much is beyond me. The scene is probably the reason this place is still in business. Review #8261

Loud, trendy and not that worth it. I think the tuna poke so well reviewed by others was not that great (try it at Roy's and you'll see why). We had several items that were heavily over-salted. Nothing was really that well prepared. Has a lot of potential, but doesn't live up to it. Really good mojitos though. Review #6064

Sometimes I don't want to be inspired or have challenging food. Sometimes, I just want stuff that tastes good. When I am not feeling frenchy or ethnicy or fusiony, dinner here is great. I really love the stuffed pork cutlet. The drinks are fun. Service has always been very friendly and efficient. The menu is fun and a good value. All in all a lively fun place. I have never experienced the bad service detailed in some of the other reviews (sure they are not fast food fast, but then, I do enjoy a more european paced meal anyway) and as far as it being "sceney and trendy", I am about as un hip as it gets and I have never felt out of place or gotten any attitude vibe here. Perhaps if you go in with a chip on your shoulder you get back what you put out? May not be the case, but who can say? Review #5804

Luna Park is one of my favorites in SF. The hawaiian tuna poke and goat cheese appetizers are to die for. The pork cutlet is absolutely perfect. The deep red walls, the ever changing artwork and low light provide for a comfortable yet severe and edgy ambiance. The mood is lively, but not overwhelming. I've always made reservations on Open Table and never had any problems getting seated right away. Review #5468

This place really needs to get their act together! We had to wait twenty minutes despite the fact we had reservations. This place is noisy, but that is what Luna Park is all about - rowdiness. The food was fab, especially the mussels with fries. Always leave room for dessert, the smores are just too fun for words. Their mojitos have reached legendary status in San Francisco. It's fresh, it's modern, it's today. The reason I'm giving this restaurant a neutral review is because the wait staff needs to be nicer, especially if you have reservations and they've kept you waiting! It could be a great restaurant, if only... Review #5283

I prefer lunch here over dinner. At dinnertime, they do the "wait at the bar" thing even if you've shown up for your reservation on time. The tiny restaurant gets excruixiatingly crowded in the evenings and its loud beyond comprehension. Not exactly your intimate dinner setting, if it is what you're looking for. If you are out with friends and want a lively atmosphere, this setting can be quite fun. The food is pretty good, sometimes a bit too salty, but on the whole, I've been reasonably satisfied. I have eaten here two times and can not recall what I had - except for the brussell sprouts cooked in balsamic - very good. 1st time sat in the back hall way in a booth w/ four of us - kind of tight back there and not really comfortable. Those booths would be great if you are looking for romance - but I definitely enjoy sitting in the main dining area more. Review #4577

Here is my follow up to bradlauster's review of my birthday dinner at Luna Park. I have to disagree and give it a positive, because I chose this restaurant for specific reasons and it met all my objectives. I was having a birthday dinner with 12 people, most didn't know each other, and I didn't want everyone just staring at each other while they ate! This was a very lively atmosphere, especially on a Friday night. They were able to seat all of us at one table, with reservations made only a couple days in advance. The selection of comfort food made everyone happy, and it's great (in this situation) when the restaurant also has a top notch bar, with creative drinks. Another plus when they are served with old school plastic cocktail animals! We did have to wait for our table and the food itself was secondary to the socializing, but I enjoyed Luna Park. On a recent visit to Luna Park for Girlrrilla's birthday, we had a very mixed night. About 12 of us arrived on time for our 9:30 reservation and we ended up waiting for over an hour. Not cool, but we didn't mind too much because we were in a celebratory mood and were already sauced up a bit from hanging out around the corner, at Cama. When we were finally seated, I did manage to convince the host to buy us a few appetizers for having to wait so long. What can I say, I'm a sweet talker. Once we finally got our table, the service could have been more friendly, but it was pretty hectic in there - they were doing their best. I remember the food being good, but after several vodka and sodas, well, I can't exactly tell you what I had. I think it was steak. Because of the wait, I'm giving Luna Park a Neutral, but otherwise it's worthy of a Positive. Oh! It's probably too loud in there to be a good date place. Review #4244
