Great decor, fast service, and friendly staff. I went here with a friend for dinner, and was happy with the whole package. The food had fresh and unusual flavors, with some great halibut, fondue, and scallop ravioli. My favorite was the coca-cola ribs, with their fall off the bone meat and wonderful carmelization. The white bean salad that came with it was a perfect compliment. Was a great experience! Review #20339

I came with a large group of loud crazy people for a birthday and expected that a) our waiter/waitress would naturally despise us, and b) that our bill would be unGODly expensive, as is normally the case when you mix small plates, many bottles of wine, and large crowd. However: our waitress and buser were both incredibly nice and forgiving of our volume level, the bill was incredibly reasonable, and the meal overall was fantastic. I HIGHLY recommend the brussel spouts. even people who normally hate them asked for more. i was very pleasantly surprised. Review #18307

Ahi Taco Tuesday?! Que delicioso! The heirloom tomato salad could not have been more fresh, the cheese plate was excellent, the mac and cheese was a hit (but the sauce was a miss), the sliders were good, and the eggplant also was very good- The service was attentive, and the sangria blanca would have benefited from more mango and less orange (and more wine). Couldn't agree more that this is not the cheapest tapas place, but this place is worth to try. I love tapas, and this has become one of my favourite places. I ordered the crab with sweet/sour sauce, duck w/balsamic, grilled stuffed eggplant, and many other plates ordered by my bf (I dont know what they are called), but overall, they were all delicious. The food was delicious and so well priced! For four of us with 8 small plates, a bottle of wine and a 22% tip, our total was $28 each- Impressive for a Friday night! Try the fondue, it is gorgeous. I will add that the service is a bit lacking, except for the sweet host who was aghast that we had been waiting for 20 minutes and still had not been approached by our waiter! What's going on with service staff in SF? If you don't want to wait on tables, please, please, please go home and be a snot with your friends! Don't restaurant managers understand yet that we, the guests, want to be served by a friendly accommodating staff? Review #15834

Small Plates. I know that they are tapas, but I couldn't help feeling that everything we ordered was barely shareable with more than 2 people. It is a fun place to go with friends though. We just kept ordering all different plates. Just keep in mind that you might wind up spending more than you planned. But everything is tasty and interesting. Review #12714

delicious tapas that in my opinion are not that tiny. We had more than enough food and didn't end up spending a lot of money even though we had quite a bit to drink. The tuna tacos were amazing, as were the spare ribs and the filet mignon. I loved the fondue and the spinach salad. Their red sangria is very smooth and I recommend eating the fruit at the end. The waiter told us to order 2-3 tapas per person, we ended up ordering 2 per person and I think we could have got away with 1.5 per person. Definitely recommend it! Review #11822

We had high hopes given the $1 ahi tartare tacos, but were extremely disappointed with just about everything we ordered. Everything was very bland, although I liked the ribs, my 2 fellow diners did not (they were fatty and small). The "crispy mac n cheese" consisted of unfrozen "sticks" of fried mac n cheese similar to mozzerella sticks and were a total waste of money. The cantaloupe infused rice liquor w/ sprite (a drink on their menu) was not appealling at all. The first "half and half" beer my boyfriend ordered he was pleased with, but they even managed to screw that up. I will definitely never return. Review #11127

Not the cheapest place to buy tapas. We ran about $35/person for four with a bottle of wine and nine dishes but we didn't finish them all. The coca-cola glazed spareribs were wonderful and the crab cakes fantastic. The gazpacho was pretty boring and the hanger steak was nothing to rave about but the chocolate cake was lovely. The dishes are certainly YUMMY but the portions are so tiny that it ends up being pricey $$$ to fill up the 2 of us (about 10 plates for 2 of us and we're not that big eaters!). Review #8495

Yummy. I have wanted to try this place for a while. Tried lotsa tapas: soup shot for $1 was tasty, olives were nice, eggplant app was FABULOUS!!! favourite of the night. Arugula, candied walnut, goat cheese and beet salad...mmm mmm mmm. Second favorite of the night. Carpaccio was OK, mac and cheese???WTF??? it was deep fried "mac & cheese' sticks= odd and while not awful not great and completely unexpected...can't recommend. Duck while crispy was WAY TOO overcooked and dry...too bad as it could have been REALLY good. Donut holes with hot chocolate was fabulous. All and all I was impressed. Good flavours & great service. I will come back Review #8122

I've passed by Andalu so many times and I'm glad I finally made it in there. Started with the pinot noir wine flight and then let the procession of tasty tapas send us to a food coma. The arugula beet salad w/candied walnuts was solid, the grilled eggplant stuffed with ricotta and roasted peppers was superb, beef carpaccio was nice, and the duck confit was crispty and salty like I like it(just slightly overcooked and dry), but the fried mac and cheese squares disappointed. Overall, the food was good and the astmosphere was fun. Finshed the night with the hot cocoa and hot donut holes, which unlike that pesky xcientist, i was willing to share with my date. I'll be back to finish sampling the rest of their tapas. Attentive staff and fun vibe. Review #8120

OK, so I ate a huge chunk of dirt in my salad and that was not a lot of fun, but other than their ill-washed lettuce, our meal was a winner. Lots of small plate choices, with fusiony feel to it. We ate almost everything on the menu and were not disappointed (except for that salad). The ribs were definitely a highlight, as was the fresh hot chocolate and donuts dessert offering - not to be missed! We ended up getting 2 orders because we refused to share with each other... There are so many great reviews for Andalu everywhere. People rave about the cuisine and the ambiance. We found both to be less the favorable. First of all, there is no ambiance. The restaurant looks run down, and the tables are very boring. The cocktail list is not unique and enticing. As for the food ... save your money. The plates are so small we actually laughed when our Ahi Tartare Tacos were delivered to our table. No joke, each taco was the size of a pot sticker - 3 on the plate. We had two bites each per taco and then one bite each to split the third one! All this for 8 bucks! We love small plates and nibbles of different tastes, but this was almost ridiculous. The service was pretty dull, and we couldn't wait to finish our martinis and grab our dinner somewhere else. Review #5056

Upside: cool atmosphere for a bite to eat. Our tapas ranged from mediocre to impressive. And my ginger-infused rice-liquor is a must for ginger-fans. Downsides: self-parking (vs. vallet), not a full bar, and tapas add up quickly for dinner. Review #4593

If you crave for eveything and anything, this is a place to go, either for a date or casually at the counter, sipping a glass of wine and tasting something prepared with care and love. The mizuna salad with beets is really good, the salmon with chards made my child reconciled with this very recommended vegetable. Review #3278
