Average diner food at best. Cheap eats though. I don't particularly care for their burgers or fries. It's clean though and the crowd is not too nasty for a mediocre diner. Review #20284

Greasey diner food. Don't go unless you like grease, which some people genuinely do. Hey, that's your perogative. Review #14843

As a good friend of mine said, "If you're going to indulge in a burger, you mine as well pick the best one you can". Johnny Rockets is not the place for that. What IS cool about this place is the staff. Singing songs, dancing, basically having a good time. I mean who doesn't like a smiley face of ketchup on your plate of fries? Review #8167

I like Johnny Rockets, but you have to be in the mood for Johnny Rockets. I first tried Johnny Rockets in LA when I was a freshman @ USC in 1988, and although I don't frequent them, they can have decent burgers. It's hit or miss as I've had good burgers, but I've also had lousy burgers...I guess quality control from burger to burger isn't always there. I'm not a fan of the overdone theme, but you can get a diner quality burger here. Nothing special, but why not. Review #6524

Great french fries....very good chili dogs if you're willing to pay the price later..wink wink. I think they do a great veggie burger here too. And really...can you beat a place that gives you nickels to play oldies on their jukebox? I think not! Review #6156

They make a decent burger and milkshake. I really like their fries. There are better and worse places to get a burger. Review #5900

I have different cravings for different bugers. Something about Johnny Rockets hits me about once every couple of months and I just have to have one. I do think there is such a thing as a great burger. This isn't it, but it is pretty good. The fries are above average in my opinion as well. Review #5387

This is one those places that should just stay in the mid-west. Why do people like it? Especially when there are so many great places to get a super burger. Just ask Wayne for recommendations. Johnny needs to learn how to cook a good hamburger and fix up that menu before I'd return. Just about the only great thing here is the shakes...but even those - you can find elsewhere with better quality. Review #5385

I go to The Chestnut st. restaurant occasionally with my friends kids... it's ideal if you have them but don't want to cook! It is a junk food joint no doubt so don't take the kids too often...but for a fix it does hit the spot..The milkshakes and fries are good, crisp onion rings, and the burgers are burgers (is there really a great burger?) And why do they insist on using those buns that instantly break down into a soggy mass after 3 seconds? Hate those buns. Update..there is a great burger, those I made few days ago from meat bought at farmers market..they were so juicy and delicious I surprised myself! really..and I felt good knowing that the cows actually experienced some sun and grass. If you want a burger, fries, and an old-fashioned malted, you could do a lot worse. Never had a bad burger here. Nothing fancy or special about it - even the decor is pretty ordinary for this sort of place. There are better restaurants on Fillmore, but no one with better burgers. Review #4777

There’s something missing here at this retro copy diner. Why, it’s tasty food.. Yeah, that’s it.Since I was so elated by finding a parking space, I parked! My next task was to find a placed to eat. Well, why not try old Johnny Rockets? Wow,it just like it was 40 years ago,but Fonzie isn’t here. Ordering the burger and fries combo and coke, was no problem, they even asked how I liked my burger cooked. The problem only happened when they brought a burger was incinerated to resemble something from a 4th alarm fire. When asked to have the burger redone, the waitress said, just a minute. And, in about a minute the manager came and spent 5 minutes telling me why they could not serve the burger cooked less than 180°. So, why bother asking the guest how they want their burger? I asked. He then proceeded to tell me that they were merely asking if I wanted mustard or tomatoes, etc. Well, so long, Johnny Rockets, you can Rocket your burger to Neverland ! Next time it's the thai place! Love their grilled cheese and add bacon along w/ a malt. Great comfort food. The only reason I do not give a "positive" rating is because it is a chain. Review #4585

comments: One ice cream sundae in the summertime sounds great, huh? I split one with my boyfriend and looked at the nutritional value online later. Try roughly 900 calories!!! Just think of the fries and hamburgers' calories added to that! I can't believe that a restaurant can be allowed to sell this type of food! Yes, it is yummie. Johnny Rockets is a fun place because it is decked out in the fifties style, and the juke box is a fun thing! It is never too crowded in here either...just fatty. Beware. Review #4331
