“ My mom was a regular customer of Sinbads. I remember she used to bring me here (when I was younger) on Sundays for brunch. Until now, I still go to Sinbad's for brunch as I like very much their Joe's Egg special and Eggs Benedict. Both are really good.

“ My hubby and I celebrated our 10th year wedding anniversary at Sinbad's. It was a quiet celebration as we decided to be by ourselves during this significant event. We had wine and seafood, both were very good. Service was also excellent as somehow, the server knew it was a special occasion for us. But more importantly, we had a very nice and memorable experience in this restaurant. ”

“ I've never had lobster for the longest time, so when I went to Sinbad's I ordered Lobster Tail, it was so fresh and tasty. For the price of $54.00 for the 2 pieces, it was so worth it. Also, I liked their chocolate cake with ice cream on the side, perfect with freshly brewed coffee.

“ Pesky persistence prompted prior to a ball game, from visitors who think The Olive Garden is a 5 star eatery, allowed our party to succumb to this horrid event. The nest odor seemed strange, but it matched the fowl fish that was presented as a "Captains Choice" plate. I have to quiz the positive ratings from newbie raters, and agree with seasoned critics who also wasted their money attempting to bring a Phoenix out the ashes. The solo saving slice of slight reward was the scintillating vision of the bay with the bridge framing the background. The service was strained as if we were an tolerated relative chitchatted with small talk, the cost matched the self exaggerated relevance of their own esteem.... Our treating visitors were not impressed, and they impress easy.
I am surprised it stays open.

“ View, location and food are what make this restaurant a bit pricey. They have a good variety of seafood dishes on the menu. When I asked the waiter what their best sellers are, he told me about 4-5, but since Im a fish lover, I ordered the halibut champignon. It was soo good. The shrimps are just enough to give a little variation of the fish flavor.

“ Had a wonderful Friday evening hanging around with friends at Sinbad's. Me and a couple of friends had some drinks at the bar and later on decided to have dinner in the main dining area.. the manager was nice enough to give us a table by the window where we can clearly see the bay.. what a view it really was! We had seafood pasta, grilled snapper and angel hair with prawns.. all were delicious and fresh. Early on, the waitress told us to leave room for dessert which we did. We shared one slice of their chocolate cake- it was so good! We couldn't help but ordered one more slice.. hmm. ”

“ I like old fashioned, not so fancy restaurants with good food and service. Sinbads meet my standards with a plus of the great view of the bay. Their furniture and carpet are old-looking, but overall, I liked the ambiance of the place. Their halibut champignon was fresh and delicious, I didn't mind paying $23.50 because I really enjoyed it.

“ Wow all those great reviews from new reviewers, I had to check it out! The food is on the same level as Denny's on a bad day. My fried fish plate was frozen stuff you would by at Costco. Dried out breaded shrimp, and fries that were cold. The best thing on the plate was the tartar sauce.
I'll bet you that the bartender offered a free drink to someone who would sign up for reviewing the place. Nothing has changed from the last honest reviewer. The drinks were ok, just ok. The service was ok, the staff seemed to enjoy BS'ing with each other more than providing service. Sorry, nothing has changed except a flood of questionably motivated reviews.......

“ Tried this restaurant by the bay, though it looked odd outside, the inside ambiance was nice as it was by the water. It had big glass windows so the view of the bridge and the bay was so clear, fantastic! The food was great and service was prompt, too. The grilled snapper is the best I had.

“ My former officemate suggested that we meet at Sinbad's for lunch. She said that although the building is bit old, the place has a fantastic view and the food is good. I ordered halibut champignon and had a glass of cabernet. We split the dessert, chocolate mousse. Everything was so good, and yes, the view was awesome. We had a wonderful time.

“ Had a wonderful dinner at Sinbads. I've read the good reviews about their grilled snapper, so I tried it. Gosh, it was the best grilled fish I've ever had. The snapper was so fresh and the aroma of the grilled spices just made my mouth water. I also tried their cheesecake with raspberry sauce, it was so good, so creamy, it just melted in my mouth. And the view of the bay was superb.. I think this is the best restaurant along the embarcadero area with the nicest view of the bay. I will definitely bring my family and friends to Sinbads. ”

“ We had brunch with my mom and cousins at Sinbads.. actually it was my mom's suggestion to eat there. She told us she had nice memories about the restaurant as dad brought her there years ago for their anniversary. We all had a nice time, my cousins enjoyed the food and the view. We liked their joe's special, egg's benedict and crabcakes. Each of us had also a glass of refreshing mimosa.. cheers! ”

“ Had our annual meeting at Sinbad's last month. The place was not so fancy because it was old, but overall, it is an excellent unassuming restaurant. Their Salmon florentine and grilled snapper were so delicious, the ingredients were really fresh. Also, the participants enjoyed very much the view of the bay. The service was excellent, everybody ate on time. ”

“ There are a few nice things about Sinbad's which I'm going to share with you:
1. The view is really the best in the embarcadero area- if you're lucky to be seated by the window, you can see the bay and the bridge as if they're just within your arm's reach;
2. their grilled snapper, halibut champignon and oysters are overly delicious; and
3. service is efficient.. with funny and efficient waiter.
There are also not so nice things:
1. It's hard to get a table by the window.
2. the price is not that cheap... but considering the nice things... its still worth it.

“ I happened to eat at Sinbad's, thought it was a cheap restaurant. But I was mistaken, the food was a little bit costly, but it was worth it. I had a grilled snapper.. it was so good, really tasty. The view was great, too.. well, I guess, I also paid for it.. But overall, Sinbad's is a good place to go. ”

“ People book this place for events because the view, not the food. I've hung out here twice for afterwork social hours before going home on the Larkspur ferry (located 50 feet away). Finger food that I tried was typically bad. Mixed Drinks were watery. I didn't have to pay, so no personal loss. Look at the collected reviews so far. Yikes - Almost all negatives!..... We warned you! ”

“ Sinbad's , with us
Wow, what a scam. Not only is this place awful, but they don't even seem to care since most of their diners are 'one hit' tourists with the misfortune of stumbling upon it. I'm ashamed of their portrayal of SF food. I rarely complain about my meals, but this was one huge exception. Even with the price of my meal subtracted from the bill, I left feeling jipped by the slow service, costly remaining bill, and my hungry stomach. ”

“ I can say without hesitation that this was one of my worst dining experiences. To an extent I expect restaurants in tourist locations to be overpriced and sub-par, but Sinbad's went the extra mile. My shrimp sandwich (about $13) was on a flimsy piece of white bread with a small dollop of canned bay shrimp. It was covered in oily cheese and nuked. If I paid just $5 for it I would have still felt ripped off. My wife's meal was equally bad. To top things off, our bill was incorrect.

“ My husband and I went to San Francisco for our anniversary. We stumbled upon Sinbad's while walking around the warf enjoying the sunset. As we walked in the door we should have been warned by the fake Sinabad in a bad pirate outfit complete with hairy chest. But we were in a good mood and thought the place might be different and fun. We were seated by a grumpy elderly man. I watched the staff who seemed rushed and stressed even thought only one side of the place was open. Service was terrible. When the food arrived the rice tasted like it had been made in dirty dish water. The "fresh vegetables" were a tiny pile of sliced over cooked zucchini. The shrimp tasted musty, the crab tasted like imitation, the scallops were not cleaned well and chewy. All of the meat was in a tasteless sauce. This meal cost $65. We told the waitress we were upset. We paid, left, didn't tip. The older man followed us out! Upset because we didn't tip. We explained. He told us never to return! How insulting. ”

“ I've been to Sinbad's only once...for a friend's B-Day party in the evening where they rented out Sinbad's...I remember thinking to myself why would the restaurant rent out itself out on a Friday night for albeit a large birthday party, the kitchen was closed and the venue was only used for bringing in some DJs and the bar. The reason is the food for lack of a better word sucks, as does the whole environment. I go to the Ferry Building often as I live nearby, and I don't recall ever seeing anyone going there. I've always thought that if Sinbad's went out of biz, might be a good opportunity for someone to take advantage of that great location and bring some good food. ”

“ I'm always surprized when i find sinbads is still open. I am guessing the owners are not in the business to make money---cuz there is no way they can. It is really overprized and the food is completly unappealing. I have tried 2 items and have been really dissapointed and have spent way too much for what i got. If you want to pop in for a drink...go for it...but dont decide to get a snack with it...wait and grab a bite next door at the ferry building.

“ The best about Sinbad’s is the valet parking, if your going there to experience deliciously prepared fresh seafood, forget it!
The menu is stale along with the cooking oil used for all the frying! The bay shrimp cocktail was a disappointment because the shrimp were not the freshest around. I realize that most of the shrimp meat comes in a frozen #10 can, but this was out a little too long! You know it’s not fresh when the cocktail sauce does little to cover the off taste! The seafood special was a big disappointment also because all the items where thrown in to the fryer at the same time, so the small scallops where overdone while the prawns were ok. The Calamari was also overcooked and too chewy.
Now the good part was the view of the bay, and the cocktails were excellent!
This would be an ok place to take guests wanting to see the waterfront or fisherman’s wharf! All in all this is not much better than a chain establishment. And if you want excellent seafood, try the Tadich!
