“
Jonnatan Leiva is constantly reinventing the menu at Jack Falstaff. It's sad when a favorite dish is taken down (skate wing, beef cheeks) but there is always something new to explore.
The staff is indeed very nice and helpful. The wine menu is nicely stocked and very reasonably priced. ”

“ The restaurant is really pretty and the staff are warm and attentive. I really liked my salad and pasta dish I ordered for the presentation, but I was overwhelmed by the salt content. No one else complained so it may be just me. My dining companions enjoyed their scallops, lamb and beef entrees.

“
When they first opened they had a wonderful chef who did a low carb menu. I really miss the lamb and zucchini "pasta" he did. The original chef was recruited to be a private chef ( I am so jealous. I would have recruited him too, if I had the means). But the new GM and chef are so wonderful they go above and beyond to please. They waived corkage for us and insisted we try new things on the menu when we asked about the aforementioned meatballs. The restaurant itself is very sexy. It's a great place for an affair inside or a daytime 3 martini lunch with the girls out on the patio. ”

“ I recently visited Jack's with a group of 5 others for drinks and dinner. All of the wait staff were friendly and attentive. Everyone in my group was pleased/impressed with the food, from the appetizers through dessert. I had the Niman Ranch beef two ways. It was delicious but the portion was a bit small for the price. Additionally, it was just slightly over-done.
All in all, we were impressed with Jack's. It's a great restaurant in a cool space that serves up great food with a smile and by professional staff. I'd definitely go back.
On a final note, they need to work on their music selection and turn it down a notch. ”

“ I have mixed feelings about Jack Falstaff. The service was great, the wine kept flowing, the outside patio area was a good private location for a birthday party, but the food was hit or miss. I ordered the fried chicken and found it to be curiously tasteless, just nothin there. The collard greens were good and the cornbread was mediocre. Others in my party had the roasted pork and the seared Ahi and both of those dishes fared much better. Perhaps I just chose the wrong entree or it was an off night for the chicken, but kfc beats it hands down and I didn't want that to be the case.

“ Food was delicious and chef allowed me to tinker with a menu selection with great results. I had high expectations and it met them, although I personally was not a huge fan of the decor. I was there very early, and my table was the first table seated and they did not really seem ready yet. But, over the course of the meal it filled up and it was a diverse, interesting crowd. Bring your savings for the wine list. It is worth it.

“ Alas, we weren't seated at the Mayor's table (my guest was a Gonzales girl), but still, if Captain Steubing asks you to dine at his table, it's an invitation you do not refuse...He never asked, but he looked right at me a couple of times, which was cool. Anyhoo...When the towncar is out front, and goons with matching ties are failing the invisibility test in lobby, you can at least be assured the head chef is on the clock, which rocks. Apps were peaches wrapped in serrano ham and jicama wrapped ahi - Both were excellent, but the peaches were the better of the two. Entrees were filet mignon and a hawaiian escolar. Both were out of this world. The green bean side was very good as well. The first round of drinks were good and on time. We were just about to light a signal flare when the second opportunity to order drinks presented itself. The cucumber colada is terrible. desserts were good, but when the price on the bill is more than the price on the menu, the difference is in the tip. ”

“ Great space (lots of leather)! The food, wine, and service were all quite good. Interesting menu, especially the upscale comfort food ($22 fried chicken). Definitely worth trying out. That being said, it I was going to spend this kind of money on a nice dinner out, this would not be my first choice. In other words, good but not amazing. ”

“ Okay, Jack Falstaff was a restaurant I was secretly not trying to like before I went there. This is the location of the short lived B2B which lasted like a week after being developed for what feels like years. When the Plumpjack Group picked up the space, I knew the wine list would be good, but wasn't sure about the food. Jack Falstaff does not disappoint, definitely a winner. The interior is sleek and sexy, and the bar action is busy. They have a list of small bar/drink snacks called "Jack Snacks"...I tried almost all of them for $2.00. The fried sage leaves, dried serrano ham, the pumpkin seeds, olives, cashews were all worth double the asking price(not a big fan of the green tea walnuts). The Liberty duck flan was fantastic as was the braised oxtail...suprisingly, the diners next to us ordered the fried chicken which I'll be craving next time. The wine list is solid although they had just sold out the Williamette Valley Pinot and Syrah, but our waiter saved the day. ”

“ YUM YUM YUM. I was reluctant to try this because it is part of the Plumpjack group and I have been very dissapointed in the past. But I am only 2 blocks away...so i HAD to give it a try. Very cozy interior. They have about a dozen 'jack snacks' at $2 a piece...we tried 7! There are a variety of nuts....but my FAV...ham chips, fried sage leaves...OMG...we had 2 of each of those...mmmmmm. Apps...liberty duck creme caramel..the mouth feel on this is AMAZING. THen the pork belly....very tasty...but needed just a little something. Then we shared the Oxtail for our main...almost as good as my b/f's ...and that is the best compliment i can give...no one else i have tried in the city has come close to his. The service was EXCELLENT...super effeicent and friendly. I will be back as often as I can afford to ”

“ Noteworthy Addition to SOMA
Professionalism with a hint of decadence defines this SOMA spot. It's got just enough modern nuances to keep this spot looking cool, and yet has the white linen look and top notch service that makes dining here stand out. The potions were affordable if on the small side. It's a great place to have a drink and an appetizer as the bar is always hoppin'. Definitely give this a shot. ”

“ They did a great job designing this space - given the location on a busy intersection. It is hip, comfortable and sleek design. Excellent mixed drinks. Our server was efficient and was well versed in the menu, without being pretentious. We had a lunch meeting - so it was burgers and salmon and some appetizers. Everybody found it really good. And the menu is truly dedicated to serving organic and whole foods. Great place for business lunch. ”

“ Hip and happening new spot. Decor has an LA feel. Food ranges from comfort (try the slow cooked pork - cooked 10 hours) to fusion. Loved it. It is a great spot for people watching. highly recommend it. Go now before the word gets out! ”
