Pretty pretty little cakes and funky flavored ice cream. Really fun for a date. They have wine too. You will spend some cash, but it is a treat. She or he will love you for taking them there. In heaven you will be able to eat all the rich cakes you want without gaining a pound. Give the love of Citizen Cupcake! A lil Heaven on Earth! Tell 'm TJ & SFSURVEY.COM sent you! Review #18321

Elizabeth Faulkner's Citizen Cake sometimes seems like the kind of place that everyone knows about, but hardly anyone who lives here goes to, kind of like the Empire State Building or Statue of Liberty for native New Yorkers. Citizen Cupcake, too, is right before our very eyes, with its sandwich board outside Virgin Records on Market street beckoning us to ride two sets of escalators to her magical fairyland of what I'm going to call "shopping fare": the quick bits and bites you eat during a five-hour Union Square extravaganza. A single mokka cupcake ($3.50) was all I needed yesterday to inspire me to stop by more often. This fluffy and moist dark chocolate cake left hardly any oily residue on my finger tips. Powerfully coffee-flavored buttercream rose from the little cake in a proud swirl, decadently decorated with crunchy cacao nibs. That nearly gritty texture of buttercream plays with my memory of childhood, but it's so adult in its coffee flavored punch. Treat yourself! Review #18305

Decent panini, great view, and a quiet place (where you can actually hear the person you're eating a meal with). I didn't try the cupcakes, but they looked good! Review #17273

I prefer the mothership, but if you can't get over there, Cupcake should hold you in the meantime. Review #15518

I'm on a cupcake diet from now on. ONLY cupcakes. Only Miette's can rival these bad boys. I had the Key Lime Cupcake, which had a tart custardy filling and a delicious fluff of icing on top. I hate icing, but I ate every single creamy bit. That's saying something. It's saying, "MORE CUPCAKES." Review #14723

decent stuff. not a large selection though (but more than you'd expect for the size of the place). want to try the larger store tho. seats weren't too comfortable. worth stopping by for a snack tho, especially to go. Review #10479

Citizen Cupcake is barely even a cafe -- it's squished into a corner of the top floor of the Virgin Megastore -- but the sweets are just as tasty as you'd expect from the name. There's a nice view, but very few comfortable places to sit and enjoy, You're better off ordering to go and taking it to Union Square (or back to the office). Review #2996

Stop in for a quick bite or glass of beer or wine while shopping in Union Square. Comes with a great view of Market Street through the hugh arched windows. Review #2751
