Being a trained chef and lover of tea, I think Lovejoy's ROCKS! I really love their tea selections, which are presented to you by a friendly unpretentious waitstaff. The menu is small but enourmous in regards to flavor and quality. Items on the menu are dainty, as they should be, and very well prepared. They are all properly cook and seasoned, making them wonderul complements to the teas. The scones and clotted cream are heavenly. The eclectic environment of the restaurant is so pleasant, homey and very inviting. This place is a must.

I you can get past the restaurants environment, the food is really good. The restaurant has a large menu, with a variety of scrumptious dishes. I prefer the fried noodle dishes, usually with chicken. They are seasoned well and very flavorful. The veggies are always fresh and cooked to perfection. The only unsavory part of the restaurant is the restaurant itself and its location.

Cookies are pretty good here. If your expecting to buy a cookie that is hot, get real. Unless they are baking them, to order, for you, it's impossible. Though, you can get a warm cookie. A very tasty warm cookie. I love their macroons, and white chocolate with macadamia nuts. You can also purchase a lovely pair of red undies with your cookies...htats a plus.

The Schnitzelhaus is the one and only German restaurant that I've eaten at in SF. The food to me is pretty average. They aren't very complex, by any means. I've had the weiner schnitzel and the pork roast, and found both to be ok, though the beer at this place ROCKS! I was having dinner on a Friday night with friends, and the music was so loud that we couldnt hear eachother.

I've eaten at Chutney only twice, with an Indian friend of mine, and I can see why he recommends it. It is by far the best Indian food I've had, in SF. Their curries are complex, savory, and just spectacular in flavor. The chicken tikamasala is so moist and lovely in color and taste. This place will, for sure, tickle your taste buds and fix your craving for good Indian food. The only drawback is the hood.

Golden River is one of my favorite chinese restaurants in SF. Calvin, the manager, really runs a great establisment. The seafood is always fresh and the menu has a large variety of dishes. The deep fried stuffed bean curd is scrumptious as are many of the dishes at Golden River. The fresh crab can be prepared in six different ways and the two ways that I have tried it , ginger and garlic and deep fried, have been tasty and cooked to perfection. I have not yet tried the dim sum, but I must say that this place is a must for dinner.

As a graduate from the California Culinary Academy, most of our training was based on French cuisine. I do know something about the cuisine, and I also know that Absinthe is a wonderful example of it. California cuisine meets French, and the marriage is wonderful. The food is fresh, complex and the ingredients in each dish are well thought out and marry well. There's a nice variety of cheeses of the cheese board, which is always a nice way to end a meal, as well as a review.

Sunflower restaurant in the Mission has some of the best Vietnamese I have ever had. The menu is not grand but well rounded. All the dishes that I have been served over the years have been very well spiced, and cooked to the proper temperature. The Pho is fantastic, and to make it so, they start out with a wonderfully full flavored stock. There spring rolls have a fantastic texture and are filled with many tastey/fresh ingredients. Thumbs up!

On the reccomendation of a couple of friends of mine, me and some friends decided to try Zadin. The decor was very nice and the booths were comfortable and inviting. We started out with the fried spring rolls which were very tasty and nicely spiced. From there, the meal went down hill. Two of the three dishes we were served had no sauce, and the curried scallop, the onlydish with any sauce, was flavorless. I must say though, that the service was good.

As a graduate from The California Culinary Academy in Sf, I'd like to think I know a little something about food. Laurel's in Hayes Valley is probably the best Cuban food I have had in SF. The menu has a large variety of dishes from seafood to vegetarian, and I really like the fact that for lunch you can order from a variety of combination plates. The dishes I was served were all unique in flavors, and cooked well. The atmosphere is fun and eclectic, but I can't say much good about the service. Our waiter, the tall bald gentleman, was far from graceful or welcoming.
