First, I don't think the picture is of the current restaurant on Valencia. The place now looks very new. It was very clean and appealing. Not gaudy or flashy like other places. Took my sons and they loved the place. I had the tuna and yellow tail sashimi and it was very fresh. Melt in your mouth buttery. Average size portions but reasonably priced. Had 2 orders of dragon roll and it was very good. Miso soup was very good and I think they were complimentary, but we ordered another for my son, who liked it. Tempura platter was very good; not oily but fresh, not pre-made and sitting there, which some places do. Unagi was good too. Service was good. I would go again if I am in the area. Price is fair and the food overall is well made. Not fancy but I go for taste more than looks when it comes to sushi.

Went there with in-laws from out of the country who never really had deep dish pizza, and my wife and kids. We enjoyed the pizzas we had. One was the vege combo and the other pep/mush/olives. Both deep dish. Lots of sauce and the crust was awesome. I love crust and thought this one really good. Topping were good too. Olives were a little strong so I won't be ordering them anymore. They are the real olives and have a strong flavor I think. Overall, excellent deep dish. My wife liked the sauce a lot. The cheese was very "cheesy" which is good. The place like others have noted is very dark. I personally like to look at my food to see what I am eating and appreciating. Feels like a SF Club if you ask me. Staff is super friendly. Place is clean and the music wasn't too loud. Would go again if I am in the neighborhood.

Went there last week with my wife since we won a free dinner from SFSurvey.com -- Thanks, SFSurvey!!!..We had tuna and yellow tail sashimi to start and it was nice and fresh. My wife is picky and she liked it. Both were equally good. We order the Bang Bang roll and it was very good. It had unagi on top and shrimp tempura on top. This looked like a Dragon roll at other places but they call it the Bang Bang roll. Try it and you will like it. The tempura in the roll was fresh and large, unlike other places that might use tempura they made hours ago and are cold. Unagi was good. We had a spicy scallop roll which I thought was good. It was spicy and the scallop was fresh. I think they baked it. We accidentally ordered the Dragon roll when we wanted to order another Bang Bang. Dragon was not as good as Bang Bang. Seaweed salad was excellent and tempura (deep fried) California roll was fabulous. Place is small but clean, and service polite.

Had lunch here and it was very good. Pizza was very nice and we had the mushroom, sausage and pepperoni. Very nice sauce and crust. They don't give the most toppings but it is adequate. Dessert was very good. We had turimusu and it was great. Service was cheerful and helpful. Prices were decent and acceptable, given Walnut Creek. They had other dishes we will try next time like the bread with a salad on top, which looked great.

I have eaten here several times with co-workers and family. Lunch is pretty good. Large portions believe it or not. We had to take some home. Seafood is good along with everything else. Drinks are fairly priced and I love the 18 yr Macallum single malt they had at a decent price ($9-10 a glass?). Brunch was decent but not fantastic. Pretty expensive for what you get I remember. It is not Vegas level buffets. Dinner is better I think and the seafood is good as you would expect. Kind of expensive but you get what you pay for I guess. Inside is nice and they have valet parking since parking outside is difficult. Rock shrimp fairly oily to me but maybe others will like it. Calamari was pretty good and they gave you a lot. Service was good.

I had some tuna here and it was not fresh. I ended up getting sick. Worse feeling in the world. Maybe I came on a bad day but fish was not fresh, and they should know it. I had some other basic rolls and they were so-so at best. Expensive and not worth it, especially when the fish is not fresh.

Pretty decent place for a quick bite and relatively cheap prices. Service is quick and you get in and out fast. Some good rice plates and chow fun is good. General Cho's chicken I think is a favorite by many, but I am not into fried food that much. Go ahead and check it out. Good for lunch near the financial district if you are on the go or just want a cheap lunch with your work friends.

I can't say I liked my experience the last time we went. Long wait, so-so food. Maybe we ordered the wrong thing but I was not impressed. Maybe next time we will order their spinach and mushroom deep dish but I am hesitant to stand in line with 2 kids to only be disappointed. I might just get the half-baked pizza and take it home and forego the hassle of waiting, etc.
June 9, 2007 Update: Went again on my wife's request and we ordered combo stuffed pizza. It came out great and very tasty. Went in the afternoon so no long waits. Had a spinach salad and it was good; maybe we will try the Caesar's salad next time since it looked real good when someone else ordered it. The table next to us ordered a pepperoni stuffed pizza and it looked awesome. We didn't get our's yet so we were trying hard not to oogle and their pizza. Overall, the pizza was very good. My son and I like sausage, mush and pep so we will order that the next time. My wife likes pineapple and ham for some reason.

Went here with friends from work and it was okay. Nothing special. Old place that has some character but the food wasn't that memorable. Wait staff wanted us to leave so never gave us water at the end. Busy little place but I don't see what all the fuss is all about. Maybe just a little tourist trap but an interesting little place if you just want to grab a quick bite and have no other place to go. I haven't been back since and probably won't.

Fairly standard Chinese food. Went to this place for a couple of family dinners and dinners with friends. We always order a lot of food. Seafood is pretty good here. Other dishes are so-so. Computer vendor took us out to this place and it was very nice inside. Place is definitely upper class and rich. Inside is very elegant and perfect for a romantic dinner. Food and drink are expensive but the quality is very good. Wait staff for these types places are usually outstanding and this place did not disappoint. Our wait person was very nice and sometimes funny as she liked to kid with us. I liked the overall experience but this place is not somewhere where you go frequently. Only for special occasions or on an expense account. PS. I had some nice single malt scotch which topped off my nice meal of steak.

I won the SFSURVEY for this place. Food was very good. We had the NY steak which was very good and cooked right. The mash and beans with it were good too. My son liked the dish very much, and he is a picky eater so that says a lot. Crab appetizers were very flavorful. The pear salad was good according to my wife. The Ceasar's salad looked good but we didn't eat it because they accidentally sent it to us so we had it sent back. We would have eaten it but my wife doesn't like garlic. Dessert was delicious especially the chocolate souffle. My son loved that one. The manager was very nice and sensitive to our needs. Wait for the food was sort of long but overall the experience was very good. Nice, clean place with a SF character to it. Would go again.

Not a place to eat "real" Chinese food, especially if you are Asian and eat a lot of Chinese food. BUT, if you want to go somewhere different, romantic and with a lot of atmosphere, then this place might be for you. I am a "eater" so I was not thrilled about coming here to chow down. Portions are small and the food is basically customized for Americans. That is okay and all as long as you know that up front. Food was decent for what you pay for. Nothing stood out for me. I just went there because it was close by and I was with business friends who paid for it.

My wife and I ate here about 3 months ago and it was pretty good. Service was very good, given Chinese Dim sum standards. Pricey but acceptable for the food you get. We only had a few items just to sample the quality and it was pretty good. We will probably go there again if we are waiting to pick someone up from SFO. I don't mind paying for good dim sum. Place is nothing fancy so you know you are not paying for the interior.

This is old school as you can get. Have a drink while you wait at teh bar. Lots of locals and business types there. Then go to a private booth and yuck it up with your friends. I love the booth over the regular tables. The seafood and is good but can be uneven and inconsistent. Sometimes great but sometimes cold and dry, like the calamari. Still a great place to hang out right after work and take clients to. Historical and old time SF all the way. Waiters are usually old cranky guys with a humor. Just have fun when you go there.

One of the top if not THE top high end dim sum houses. Everything here is top quality. Expensive but worth it. Big place but long waits still. Everyone does seem to come here. Abalone soup for 2 was excellent. Cost like 70 bucks but worth just to try. My mother and granny loved the soup. Abalone was delicate and tender. Soup was "sweet", super good. I think this place is over-rated. Waited over an hour starting at 4 pm. Pizza was just okay, if not so-so. Don't see what all the fuss is all about. I might give it another try but doubt it because I know I can eat real good somewhere else for $30 bucks that beats pizza sauce and dough. Pizza isn't all that big if you ask me. Chicago pizza is way better. And any thin crust beats this. Maybe I went on a bad day. I have eaten and made pizza all over the place and this one is on the low end of the scale for me.

I went there for the first time last nite with friends who go there periodically and I think it is one of the best places I have eaten sushi at. Super size portion of sashimi. Basically double the normal size and it is totally worth it. Rolls were well made and delicious. We had reservations so did not wait. Wait staff were excellent and attentive. Came by periodically to ask how we were and took our order with helpful suggestions. Place is clean and not too loud. Lots of people waiting to get in. Price is cheap by sushi standards and I would go again. Dragon roll was super. Eel was fresh as can be and not your normal re-heat and burnt. Not fishy at all like others. Loved the tuna and yellow tail. To die for. I ate till I was full. I will definitely go again and try the other rolls. Only minus was the fried oyster roll because of small oysters and semi cold. All else was perfect.

One of the top Dim Sum places I have eaten at lately. Nice and clean. Very new place. Nice ambiance and you can talk in this place, not like other loud dim sum houses. Food is top quality, a little pricey but worth it. Cheaper than the top expensive places. Worth going because the food is worth it. The steam pork was the only miss and I have tried it twice so it was no fluke. All else was very good. My sons and wife like the place and I think it is above those in Oakland, where we normally go. Wait can be long if you get there at noon. Show up at 11 or 11:30 and you can sit quickly. Wait staff was courteous and fast. I will keep going to this place for dim sum.

My favorite prime rib place of all time. I always take out of towners here and they love it, even people from Texas!! A perfect example of a true San Francisco restaurant. The 49ers eat here every Xmas holiday. The prime rib is to die for, really. Get the King's cut I think and they give you some more free if you are up for it. Love the cream of spinach. Everything served to you at your table and they cut the meat right in front of you just the way you like it. I love this place and only if my wife wasn't a vegetarian, we would go more often. Great place to have a perfect cut of slow-cooked prime rib. Place is dark and romantic. A little loud but you can still be romantic. Not a fancy place, not like typical steak houses with fancy leather chairs and booths. Place has definite SF character. Parking is tough so expect to get valet if you are in a rush.

We had a nice pinot noir and it was perfect with the lunch. My friends loved their dishes of pasta and steak. Wonderful service and ambiance. Expensive but worth every penny.
