The atmosphere is definitely worth a visit!! A great place to hang your coat after a long day at work. The waiters here are from another era! They offer a good variety of seafood on their menu.

I love this place because it's one of those places where when you are in it, you don't feel like you're in San Francisco anymore... Burgers are good too! But also try some of their Portuguese stuff like fries, languica and eggs. Damned good at any time of the day!

Omigod, this is the LOUDEST restaurant ever! I had to scream across a table for two like I was at a show. That's not a negative remark though. Portions are excellent, definitely fills you up. A bargain for their whole chicken served with fries and salad? 10.50! We had this appetizer that was like an egg/avocado salad but in a form of a beautiful dessert piece. Definitely worth a visit. Service was very friendly.

If you compare Hahn's to a full-on sit in front of a grill Korean BBQ spot, that just ain't fair. Hahn's has a semi-Californian twist to default Korean dishes. Pretty satisfying bibimbap and their stuffed mushrooms, while it doesn't look that great, is pretty pretty good. Good alternative Korean BBQ spots when you really don't want to spent more than $10. I've been dying to try their salads so I must visit again.

Good food, good prices. Never too crowded, good bread. A nice place to go if you don't want to give up the meat but still want something relatively healthy. If you need parking, best if you find it west of van ness. The walk is short and you would circle around a lot less!

I was down the street with some friends trying to get a table at the Blue Jay Cafe, they were packed, so we trekked a block down and went to Fly bar. I was kind of worried that they wouldn't have "real" food because I was starving. I know they have small pizzas but they also have a great salad menu! I had the Nick's salad which is kind of like a Chef's Salad with a lot more stuff (bacon pieces, lots of tomatoes and cucumbers). The salad was big, fresh and tasty. Use your left over salad dress and eat it with the crust of your pizza. Their crust is yummy and slightly sweet. Oh! Their soju cocktails are good too (and their prices).

Papalote is pretty disappointing. Pricey burritos with no included extras--that means you pay 9 bucks to get a super dry burrito (I had the pescado). Their guac is okay. Sure the place is fun and colorful but it's a hipsterized joint for burritos. Why not back track a few blocks back up for better alternatives?

Their green tea gelato beats any other green tea ice cream/gelato in town! I never stray from the Japanese crepe, absolutely love their macha sauce. Though they are kind of weird about giving that to you if you don't order a crepe, even if you offer to pay for it. Not the nicest people who work there, but ah for ice cream, who cares!

Tucked away in Potrero Hill, great entrees and dessert in a stylish but unpretentious setting. Dim lighting, nice atmosphere. Good price / portion / fanciness ratio. Service was excellent, everyone was really polite and down to earth. I went there for dinner but would like to go back for breakfast and lunch.

House of Nanking has always been kind of a childhood joke for me. My family used to drive up to Chinatown from the suburbs to do some shopping on the weekends and we never fail to notice the fat line that's always in front of this place! My dad would always point out all the white people waiting to get gypped. Can't knock something until you try it right? 13 years later (last month), my bf and I were once again fumbling for food after a movie late on Friday night, so I suggested the place since one of my friends recently mentioned it. We were crazy hungry so when we got there, we were super delighted that the chef (Mr. Fang?) came up and asked us a few questions, ordered for us and voila food was on our table-great for indecisive people. Definitely not Panda Express style, but the chef definitely took liberties with the menu. Food was pretty good but not so Chinese prices. Not to say that it was pricey, but it wasn't thaaat cheap. Definitely a SF institution. Gotta love their sign!

Finally got to check out this neighborhood gem! Went there with some friends for my birthday a month ago and I've been back there already! I tried taking other's advice of getting the ankimo but SOLD OUT EVERYTIME!! Good stuff like toro and the fancier types of hamachi are always sold out. The menu is extensive and very thoughtful. My favorite is the hamachi pear--nigiri with hamachi, slice of asian pear topped with mustard--super delicious!! Their non-sushi dishes (I tried the eggplant) are excellent as well. Awesome deal if you just want their sashimi platter. Genuinely tasty food without the pretentious atmosphere. Next time I am going there at 5:30 when they open!

Fried boneless diced chicken cooked dry! Chicken so good, bones just take up too much room on the plate! Definitely try the pot stickers, the soupy goodness on the inside makes you forget the fact that these are panfried. The place is busy every day of the week, but don't worry, if you go with 4 people or less, the wait is tolerable. (Tip: They move people in and outta there pretty quick too, and it helps that the 2 seaters in front of you on the list seem to give up very easily)

A friend had recommended this cute neighborhood spot. Looks a bit shady outside, but definitely not the same on the inside. The place the counter seats are set up right in the center. Bar is well stocked with Red Stripe, Bottled Coke and they make yummy sweetened iced tea. Good music on the speakers, it's like going to a kick-back club for breakfast. I had poached eggs over crab cakes, soooo good. It's a dish with many levels of flavors. Most plates come with home fries and a piece of watermelon. Service was a bit slow, but the food and atmosphere was well worth it. Price is great also!

Smallest dim sum I have ever seen. It's a great beginner's dim sum restaurant. Their menus are like elementary Chinese lessons. Illustrations with an english translation of each delicacy, and I am not talking about a phonetics. Popular place among White folks. I had to try it just to see what the hoopla (and long lines) were all about. Great mango pudding, though.

I had a good recommendation so I checked out this place, but wow, it's kind of overpriced for what burritos. You won't break the bank by going there, but who wants to pay 8 bucks for a burrito? It tastes ok, pretty basic. The people who work there aren't the nicest. Nothing special at all.

Named after the classic Japanese comedy the perfect ramen by Juzo Itami, this place definitely deserves their name! It's authenticity at its best. Tampopo serve bowls of hearty ramen with a whole lotta toppings! This place has the best ramen (maybe battling it out with Katanaya, who just moved to the same block). Greatly affordable and low key atmosphere. This place gets busy but the wait isn't too bad.

This is one of my favorite places in Inner Richmond. Great atmosphere, it's happening but never too crowded. Awwweeeesssooome battered catfish. Very good food, coconut rice to die for, though not really worth to withstand the crazy line. The place is packed every night of the week at any time. Good service, but from my observation, if you are with non-Asians, you get superior service. In that case the waiters and waitresses will come by at least once during every course of the meal. If you are Asian, you get the standard 3-step service, take order, bring the food, ask how it was in the end w/ check. Try Mandalay for a good alternative.

I still don't know why this place gets so packed that the only time you can go and not have to wait is during that "linner" 4pm-ish period. Affordable, most basic Japanese food.
