Funny little place! Inside the Stanford Court hotel on California street. It's continental cuisine that's been freshened up a little bit. The staff, at least our waiter, was a hoot. Must have been in his 60's, very playful, dry sense of humor. The food and the service was great even though we had ordered the dine about town menu and brought our own wine! Great deal! But we definitely would go back and order from the regular menu too!

Good cheap dim sum for lunch (haven't been there at night). If you're white, you'll definitely feel like you're in another country. If you don't eat dim sum regularly or if you're not very adventurous go with someone who can at least ask for things by their chinese name. The staff does understand the basics so you can point and ask Pork? Shrimp? Chicken? Beef?

We've only ordered in, but the food is fabulous! The beef salad and the prawn salad are totally yummy, great soups, great curries, great veggie dishes! Most of our building orders from them as the food is yummy, they are quick (45 minutes which is good for most delivery places) and the delivery person is totally sweet! Check it out!

Metro is a great french bistro. French bistros serve homey food not high-end fancy french food. The price fixed is a great deal - soup or salad, entree (typically fish, chicken or pork) and dessert for $16! We typically take wine to a restaurant because most restaurants don't have reasonably priced good wine. Metro does have some decent wines these days but they are typically production wines. I have never had a bad meal here. Service is typically good up until it's time to give you the bill but you just have to get up and tell them that you want your bill if you don't want to sit around and chat for a while.

Great steakhouse in the classic sense - not fussy, good service, okay wine list (mostly production stuff). It's my husband's happy place for a comforting meal of steak au poivre, izzy's scalloped au gratin potatoes and creamed spinach. We've been going there for years and the wait staff has always been fantastic. The only negative, crappy wine glasses - so we bring our own! When you have a decent bottle of wine you want to enjoy and don't want to have to cook and clean, go to Izzy's!

Went there on the 13th of January 2006, the worst restaurant experience I have had in San Francisco and I have lived here all my life! There were 12 of us, a reservation had been made but they had no record of it so the table was not set up. After we finally sat down, we got water and tried to order wine but that took 3 attempts over 30 minutes. We ordered when the wine came but the food took 90 minutes. In the meantime they filled numerous to go and pick-up orders. The food was barely adequate and it was definitely overpriced compared with multiple other Indian places in the city. Don't waste your time. There are so many better places to eat.

Wow! Can't believe the bad reviews but as they were posted around the same time I'll assume it was a very off week. We've been there three times. We typically go at 5:30 but went recently during the holidays for a 7pm seating. Food was fabulous, wait staff was fantastic as usual, host was very nice. The pepper steak is one of their better options but I had the steak which came with a fondue of gorgonzola which was amazing. My mother ordered the special 3 course meal of veal cheeks over butternut squash risotto and that was a chorus of great flavor. I would definitely recommend it for a special night out.
