Sit down, open the menu and think.. wow.. I'd better be committed to this experience. It's going to be at least $50 for 2. Well, I went inside, asked myself what I felt like and decided I didn't really want the cooked chicken over rice $11.95. So, my friend and I got the Sushi Party (which is normally for takeout.) Our waitress was fun, knowledgeable and ended up making the experience really enjoyable. We closed them down and didn't get pushed out the door at all. The rolls looked great and I'll be trying those next. The sushi party, with nigiri and a few rolls was more than enough for two. Don't let the prices scare you, just know you'll enjoy the experience.

We went in for late night snacks. It's hard to get too excited about hot dogs and garlic fries (which were pretty good) but what was nice was watching the big screen TV while eavesdropping while some drunk women harassed the ogling Italian guys. It gets a positive because I'd go back at 1:30 when there are so few options around.

I agree with the positive reviews here. It's relatively close to my home, so I figured I'd start at the top and work my way down the menu. I had the #1 Chicken Taco Plate. They were delicious and the homemade tortillas were a definite plus. The guacamole, is essential and is NOT included when you order the tacos a la carte. Each time I've gone, the food was good.
The negative reviews here must be from the owners at either a competing restaurant or somebody who has something personal against this place. The food was good and when I get off my Master Cleanse, I'm heading back there.

I walked into the Star India for the buffet ($7.97). It was fine, filling. I might go back again if I wanted to fill up on Indian / Pakistani type food. I tried almost everything in the buffet - including the soup and chai. I might try again. But, there are sooo many restaurants that I'd have to want the buffet.

Gaspare's has the kind of comfort Italian you can go to over and over and over. The first time I experienced his pizza on Geary, it was Double Pepperoni, Sausage, Mushroom and Artichoke hearts. YUMMMY.. it's a pizza for topping lovers rather than bread lovers.
Then, when I experienced Gaspares in San Rafael, I had the Veal Milanesa, Bruschetta, Calamari, Robin's Cheesecake (super delicious and I'm not even a huge cheesecake fan) Tiramisu.. put it this way, our small party had a great time.
Try this place, add Gaspare and Danny (in San Rafael) to your family. Your kids will love this food for the next 20 years.

What strikes me most about this place is the price. It's not ridiculous, but you're not pleasantly surprised by anything extra; a cornbread muffin, a small bowl of beans... anything really. The problem is the direct comparison to the Japanese place across the street where they overwhelm you with extra goodies. Back to BBQ. I recently had the meaty potato with Brisket. Again, it was fine, the cheese hadn't melted all the way, the meat was pretty warm and it was presented decently. I just wish for $10 ($9.96) they'd throw in a muffin. So for $10, you get a meaty potato and water. It's not a far stretch to think.. hmmm.. I could make this at home pretty easily. I imagine if you took a party of four here and had drinks and sides, it'd be $100.. so I'm agreeing with another review here saying it's just ok.. but if you're craving BBQ out in this part of the city, you'll probably give it a chance. (If you're the owner reading this.. throw in some southern hospitality and you'll win a lot more

I was looking for a breakfast place that was more than pastry and within walking distance from my house. I knew the BD for Coffee but hadn't tried their breakfast. A gal outside was eating someting that looked really yummy - with strawberries, slivered almonds, and caramelized apples - turns out it's their french toast and includes cream cheese between the slices.. yummy. That and a cup of house coffee made for a nice breakfast. I recommend it - especially if you want a nice sunny (south-facing) seat to enjoy your coffee in.

We were thinking we wanted some Gyros and remembered a great street vendor in NYC. So, we went driving. We passed Myconos and decided greek food was it. We went in, ordered the Mixed Grill (and split it) and each item was delicious. I took some family back a week later and had the Gyros + dessert + coffee.. All delicious. And, 4 people (no wine) was only $60 including tip. Will be top of mind when I think I want some really tasty food.

This place is within walking distance from our new digs, so we wanted to give them a chance. When sitting down, the staff seemed quite friendly, if not completely fluent in English. The pictured signs on the windows showed prices of $6.95, $7.95 so that's kinda of what I expected. However, it seems the dinners are twice the lunch for many dishes. Not reading Korean, I left unclear on the differences. Review begins here. My wife and I each got something we'd had before (to be safe) I got the bibim bop (rice, veggies and meat with egg in iron bowl, she got the chop chae (rice noodles with beef slices). She tried to suggest a $9.95 appetizer, but I figured we'd have room for dessert if it wasnt enough. Then she proceeded to set down the 9 yes NINE side dishes. This is the proper Korean experience. Everything from cold bean sprouts, rice jelly, seaweed, anchovies (the dried version) and three spicy dishes. The food was served hot and fresh.

They started me off with something deep-fried and spicy. Being American, I was licking my lips, but I think this put me over the top down the road. The food all looked good so I ordered some rolls and a vegetable tempura. I'm not sure now exactly what it was, but through the course of the meal, I started losing my appetite - not in a bad way, just not craving the eating experience. The rolls tasted good and they served lots of yummy ginger and wasabi. On the second piece of broccoli tempura, I noticed the tempura batter was a bit bland, but again, I can't be sure. All in all, a good experience. The comical, if not cliche.."Thayn kyew very maach" vocalized by everybody on the payroll on our way out had me at least realizing they'd read "Run a Sushi Bar for Dummies." When I go back, I'll skip the taste-bud killing appetizer they offer and focus on the flavor of the sushi. It looked crowded with locals, so give it a chance. Maybe save the hot-spicy thing for after the raw fish

I had lunch with colleagues here as we worked within walking distance. I was thinking to avoid it because it seemed pricey. The pasta I had was $13 and decent though not memorable. They didn't serve any bread to get you started but I asked and they accomodated. They were out of dessert. ? The wait staff were friendly but didn't appear overly competent .. Er.. maybe empowered is the right word. It's like if the owners said.. "Make our customers HAPPY at all expense!" you'd get one kind of service. However, small requests were met with looks of .. "Umm.. can we do that? Should we do it?" I can say I've been there. That's about all for now.

Based on the first review for this location I decided to try it. I had the John Dillinger and added pepperoni. I was impressed with the large, kid-friendly location mixed with the friednly staff and environment. It's bright and clean and the pizza was delicious. Always get a bit larger than you can eat because it tastes good later as well. Apparently, they're planning on getting a large TV and turning it into a great place for the neighborhood locals. If you want a pizza that is not the standard combination of ingredients, TRY this place.

This is the kind of place you take somebody you want to share food, wine (optional) and great conversation. You need a reservation and you can stay as long as you want. They have some delicious small plates as well as entrees. I decided on a couple of small plates and a side. Moroccan Meatballs of lamb wrapped in some tasty pork wrap. Stuffed dates started the meal and as you eat them, you have a warm sweet + meat sensation. It sounds a bit weird, but imagine having a piece of bacon on jellied toast (okay, bad imagery, but it was delicious) The cinnamon cous cous was a side and was enjoyable and not over-filling. I didn't try the wine, but it seemed everybody else in the place did. Very warm and cozy. My suggestion would be to design a better table system (a rack to lift something off the single surface?). By the time I had a cup of tea, a glass of water, a bread plate, a small plate, an appetizer plate, a bread basket.. I felt I was juggling my table space to not knock something off.

It was cold and wet outside, but warm and cozy inside. I like small quaint places where the chef is not afraid to put their skills on display. I had the chocolate souffle with a wet nut mixture and fluffed cream. It wasn't overly sweet but had a warm cakey outside and oozing chocolate center. Very comfortable on the tasetbuds. The pasta dishes looked excellent as I glanced to my dining neighbors plates. I'll go back for with friends and family.

At first thought, I was less interested in taking my wife and 1 year old to a brew pub (thinking the noise would be a problem.) Actually, we ended up having a very satisfying meal. The staff was attentive, the food was good and BECAUSE of the noise, it was actually kind of kid friendly. Lots of people having nice conversation and the bread pudding is worth trying. I had the Stir Fried Asian Vegetables that were quite tasty if not a little too saucy. It would be a nice vegetarian option.

Calzone's one of the most visible restaurant on Columbus Ave. in North Beach with a red neon sign the length of this very visible location. Calzoni is a must.
