was here for breakfast this morning. they had some pretty interesting combo's. my gf got the trout, cream cheese, capers, tomatoes and i forget what else scramble, and i got the rosemary lamb sausage, garlic, goat cheese, tomato, and i forget what else scramble. they were both fantastic. they came with roasted potatoes and buttermilk dill bread. the waitstaff was trying to go as fast as they could, but they had a hard time keeping up. it was still a fabulous breakfast. i'll go back.

Went here last night for my anniversary with the gf. We loved this place. The wait staff was so friendly and gracious. The fixed price menu was $38 for 4 courses (soup, salad, entree, desert). Every course was delicious and plenty of food. The atmosphere was pleasant, quiet enough, cute French music playing in the background. The souffle was fantastic! I recommend the place and will go back.

I was here before a show across the street at the marsh. we got there when there happened to be a just emptied table. we ordered and got our food promptly. the sushi we had was definitely acceptable. the flavor was decent. the miso soup was very nice; not salty like so many i've had recently. the sea weed salad was nice. we ordered 3 rolls to split between 2 people and they were good prices, nice flavors, some i hadn't seen before. i would go back.

I've been here a few times and I've enjoyed the place. It's nt the best breakfast I've ever had, but the staff is so friendl and accomodating. The prices are comparable to other diners. They're fast and if you're unhappy about something they'll make it right. I will go back. I've had the fruit plate and scrambles and enjoyed them all.

my gf and i came in here for a snack. we each got a junior sized torta and split them. she had the pastor, which is her favorite, i had the carne asada. she said she's had better pastor than theirs. the carne asada wasn't bad, tho. the junior size is a good size for a snack. they each cost sround $5.the place is really clean and spacious. they have table service. they also serve other basic sandwiches like tuna salad, they serve tacos, paninni, vegetarian options, salads, breakfast sandwiches, and snacks. i would go back.

I wasn't as impressed by this place. I went here for breakfast with my gf and her friend. I had the italian sausage scramble and the sausage was so bland. It wasn't worth eating. the potatoes were quite good, though. the toast was pretty burnt. My gf ordered eggs over hard, which came out still runny and had to be sent back, with a pancake and bacon. the pancake was nothing special and the bacon she said was awful. the only good dish out of the three was her friend's. she had the goat cheese and spinach omelette with potatoes and toast. the prices are on par with most places, yet the portions are dramatically smaller than most places. tho i think the portions are fine, i would prefer to have smaller prices to go along with them since the ingredients are nothing special. i won't go back unless something changes there.

i always bring bread from here to my family when i head home to TX. they have a great sourdough and a fantastic multigrain. here at this location you can get tastings of their breads and other products they sell. the only thing i think is really overpriced are their shaped breads (sourdough in the shape of crabs or turtles, etc) some of them are about $20, for a loaf of bread. too much.

i've been to several of the naan and curries around town and this one is one of the better ones. the waitstaff is so friendly. the last time we were there, probably our 3rd time there, we'd ordered dinner then sat down. my gf saw some of the cooks eating some chicken wings and asked te guy at the counter if that was on the menu, he said no, that was what the cooks made for themselves. she commented that was a shame because it looked so good. he asked the cooks to make some for us and then they surprised us with it, and they were good! we enjoy this location and like the staff. we'll go back again.

really long lines. when you get a table, getting the food takes a really long time. it wasn't the best pizza i've had, but it was good. noisey place, hard to hear. the waitstaff was pleasant, they refilled the glasses promptly. we occupied ourselves playing hangman on the paper tableclothes whenever there was a lull in conversation as we waited for the food. i don't know how often i would eat here, but i did enjoy the food. we split 2 salads between 4 people and 2 large pizzas between 5 people and that was enough food.

a definite winner. i was out on a romantic evening and we stopped in here by chance for dinner. the places we had hoped to try had too long of lines and this place didn't have a line. i don't know why. maybe, like me, people aren't aware it's more than a tea house. the dinner menu was small, but the food was really incredible. we ordered the smothered chicken and the chicken meatloaf and would gladly order both again (especially the smothered chicken). we also had the goat cheese appetizer with fresh honey, fruit and toast. all the food was fresh and flavorful. they have a nice wine list as well. the waitstaff was so friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed. i felt completely at home here. and the desserts, you have to try them. the buttermilk pudding cake... get it. and the texas sheet cake was completely authentic and yummy. my friends make that sheetcake, and it's dead on.

this place was a total dissappointment. i was here for a friend's birthday party. we had reserved a section of the restaurant and ended up in a corner near the balcony doors where people were going in and out constantly to smoke. the doors were left open often and it was cold. that was a negative. the waiters were often non-existant. when they were there, they would often try to take your plates before you were done. by the end of the meal one of my friends felt the need to almost slap the waiter's hand because it was the 15th time she'd had to say she wasn't done with her plate. exasperating. the food was not worth the prices, nothing exciting. the seats and the tiny little tables were uncomfortable and not conducive to conversation or large parties. i have no plans to ever return here.

i was here for breakfast with friends, one of which comes here all the time. she loves the place. i ordered the chilaquiles on her recommendation. the portion was huge, so i split with my gf. the tortillas are handmade and those were fantastic. the dish had too much sauce for my liking, but the flavor was good. apparently if you're a dedicated customer, going there for years, you can get special benefits such as being able to order smaller portions, but they're very strict about it being for established customers. but still, i like that they value their dedicated customers that way.

absolutely worth it! put your name on the list and wait for your table. this place does breakfast and brunch, my favorite foods of the day. my gf and i got there around noon on a friday. there was a line and we put our name on the list. we waited about 20 mins to get in (very small place) we wanted to try a bunch of stuff so we ordered a cup of gumbo, which was really fantastic, for starters. then we split an anduillie omelette with the house potatoes, and the granola pancakes with vanilla creme and really flavorful fresh fruit (blackberries, plum, pineapple, grapes). ridiculously huge portions, yes, but the food is so good. you could easily split a plate with someone. the prices are on par with other places. the staff is attentive. the food is timely. i will definitely become a regular here.

I was taken here for a birthday dinner and it was absolutely fantastic. We had reservations, were seated promptly. The waiter knew all about the menu and about Greek wines. He suggested a fantastic wine to go with dinner. Almost everything we tried was fabulous. And the stuff that wasn't fabulous was still good. I would definitely go back. I suggest trying the octopus, the pita topped with olives, etc, and the lamb chops. And try a Greek wine if you've never tried one before. Worth it!

It's really not what I think of when I think of crepes. I think of a stack of soft, sweet things my mom used to make for breakfasts and dinners sometimes. these are crispy and incredibly thin. these can be made into rolled sandwiches or desserts. i tried them as a dessert with my niece. i thought the ingredients were waaaaaaay toooooo sweet, but they were just what she wanted. i think they'd make a good sandwich, but i wasn't trying one that day. i wouldn't buy the dessert again for myself because it was an incredible sugar shock, but i'd try the sandwich.

was here for a brunch with 3 other people. two loved the food, and me and my gf thought it was okay. the pancakes were fabulous, tho. but i had ordered a scramble that i thought was supposed to have ham, onions and cheese but what they brought me was not that. i thought maybe i had mistaken what i had ordered and that it had sausage instead of ham, but it tasted like hamburger, not sausage. it was really bland. i had to add hotsauce to get any flavor. i didn't notice any cheese or onions. i was too tired and hungry to complain so i kept it and ate what i wanted of it. i have no desire to go back and wouldn't tell anyone else to bother actually. but the place was packed with people, for whatever that's worth.

They just make sure they take your order promptly, the food comes quickly and they check to be sure you have everything you need. our glasses were refilled without asking, which I always love. so i wasn't really thinking right. i ordered sicilian deep dish, but was hoping for chicago deep dish, forgetting that the 2 are very different. for those who don't know; sicilian is more like focaccio bread with pizza toppings on top. but this one was still good. i got the chicken pesto, spinach sicilian pizza. nicely done. good toppings, but the thickness of the crust made it a bit dry. nice and crispy, though. nice sauce. i'd order again, but the thin crust next time. i'm not interested in many of their combinations. i'm usually pretty adventurous in what i eat, but i don't like the sound of many of their combos when i'm thinking of pizza. but you can create your own combos if you want.

I had avoided this place because it struck me as a place I was likely to get bad, run of the mill American Chinese, but I was wrong! I think the people that sat me and took my order were the owners and they were so kind and welcoming. I got a lunch special, the chicken and veggies. It came with rice, hot and sour soup and a small cabbage salad. I ordered it spicey, but they did a pretty mild serving. It was fine though. Lots of veggies (still crisp), the rice wasn't clumpy, everything came quickly and plenty hot. It wasn't the best Chinese I've had by any means, but it certainly was better than many calling themselves a Chinese restaurant. I was mostly impressed by the owners, though. They really seemed invested in their customers happiness and I appreciated that.

A large group of us came here on a sunday nite to celebrate a friend's birthday before taking him to a movie. We were late to our reservation, but this was not a problem for the restaurant. They had a large table set up in a private room for us. We told them we were running behind and so they took our order quickly, brought our food even faster and never let the glasses go dry. The bread they put on the table was the only thing I wasn't thrilled with. The breadsticks were too crispy & some of the bread was way too salty. But the lasagne was fabulous! Everyone finished everything they were served and I think a few of the people would have licked their plates had they thought no one was looking. They also served a special cake we brought. Very nice staff. I would love to go back here.

I was here yesterday for a late lunch. I got the california burger and fries (avocado, monterey cheese and sprouts). the burger was good, but the fries were tasteless and somewhat stale. the server was very nice, but since it was about 230 or 3ish all the servers were trying to get things ready for closing at 4 so they were at best a bit distracted. since i didn't need much and wanted a little privacy this suited me fine. the price was good, the burger was a little more cooked than i'd asked for but still tastey and they actually remembered the extra tomato. so i'm kinda back and forth here with them. i'd go here again tho, if in the mood.

took a friend here for a welcome home dinner. she had the shrimp mu shu (sp?), i had the kung pao chicken, and we split the green onion pancakes. i enjoyed the kung pao- spicey enough, lots of veggies and the chicken was tender. the mu shu had only a few shrimp and a ton of cabbage, but the flavor was nice. the pancakes for the mu sho kept tearing, tho; annoying. the green onion pancakes were a little too brown and didn't have quite enough onion flavor for us, but since i am a carb addict i didn't mind. the peanut sauce for the green onion pancakes was really nice. the service was quite good. our waitress was very nice. the prices were average, about $7.50 an entree. we were there about 530 on a saturday. i wouldn't mind going back and trying something else.

these were good. i got one to go. it was the middle of a weekday afternoon and there was a line. i got the roast beef with avocado and provolone, medium. a medium is plenty. they heat the bread, meat, and cheese till the bread is crispy then add everything else. the hot sauce is a nice touch. it's not terribly spicey, but adds a nice kick. i didn't get the fries, but maybe next time. i will go back.

got a tri-tip sandwich, garlic fries and the broccoli to go. not bad. not the best i've ever had- the meat had some grizzle on it and the slices of bread were a little thick, but they were certainly decent and i got everything quite fast. the order of fries was huge, way more than one person should have. the broccoli was very tastey, but over cooked. it's not a place i would call a first choice, yet i still liked it. and the staff was really nice; very helpful.

wow! was here on a tuesday morning about 1045 and had to stand in line about 15 minutes or so. there is no list to put your name on, you just stand in line till you get in. the food was fabulous! everything was so fresh. the place was loud, but not too loud to hear conversation. We ordered a huge bowl of fresh strawberries, pancakes with fresh banana, an omlette with a nice spicey italian sausage and bell peppers, grilled red potatoes, sourdough toast and hot tea. It all came in a short amount of time and the waitstaff was attentive but not overbearing. Some of the items were a bit expensive, like the strawberries for $7, but they had so much flavor that I was willing to overlook the price. We both really enjoyed it all and look forward to going back.

I came here to get dinner on the way home from work. These are definitely the biggest burrittos I've seen in this town. I couldn't finish it all. I asked for the special, a shredded beef burritto, but I asked for it as a super with the guacamole, sour creem, etc. Though the menu says to add $1 for super, making the special super negated it as a special, so it became full price. I thought that was odd. but the food was decent. I didn't have time to look around the place and didn't immediately notice a slasa bar, so I have no idea if they have one. I thought I saw them put salsa in the bag, but found none when I got home, so I have no idea if they put it in there or not. I didn't think anything incredible about this place, but it was fine. Not a bad choice.

I came here tonight for takeout. I was really upset because I had to wait over an hour for MUNI, but as soon as I walked in the door of Tazaki Sushi the whole family welcomed me. They were so bright and friendly I had to smile despite myself. I ordered 3 rolls for myself and a friend to split: the New York Maki (Shrimp & Avocado), Cherry Blossom (Salmon & Tuna), and Caterpillar Maki (Eel & Avocado), and a cup of Tofu Miso soup. They do a very nice soup and all the fish was incredibly fresh. Everything came in a very short amount of time, and the sushi looked beautiful. For all of it together the bill was $21.83. Nice combos, incredibly nice people, decent price. I wouldn't hesitate to go back.

this is chain southwestern style mex. decent salsa, decent chips. if you've ever been to the chain restaurant "on the border," this place reminded me of there. the waitstaff was pushing whatever they could, asking us if we wanted appetizers that were essentially stuff that was included in the meals we had already ordered; but they didn't do a lot of that. it was loud even though the place wasn't full of people. i wasn't attracted to the place but my friend really enjoyed it. she was very happy with her meal. to me the place was basic chain style food, not bad but not really good either.

i was here with a large group (11 people) and they sat us fairly quickly. we had to wait for a little more than 1/2 the group to get there before they would seat us, but they prepped the table as our group trickled in. the waitstaff was very helpful. the food was definitely tastey. some of it, tho it was dinner, tasted like dessert because of the raisins and other fruits in the recipes (and the powdered sugar on the chicken and almond filo. wasn't expecting that.), but i enjoyed the dinner. efficient, friendly service, interesting menu, good food, moderate prices.

the food was excellent. to my taste, a bit salty, but most people like more salt than i do, so i figure it was probably perfect in that way for anyone else. the waitstaff was so great. very attentive without being overbearing. my waterglass was always refilled without me ever having to ask. the only thing i think people should note, not the place you want to take someone hard of hearing. my friend couldn't hear much of anything. the place has so much wood and stone that none of the sound is absorbed. and since this place is constantly full of people, the place is always full of noise. not an inexpensive place, but the food quality is high. the grilled artichoke appetizer was fabulous! some of the best artichoke i've ever had. the ahi tuna was perfect, the beef was fabulous. couldn't make a bad choice here. but not a place for vegetarians really.

not bad at all. a friend and i came here for dinner and had a feast for less than $30, with plenty to take home for a meal the next day. we had the lentils, spinach and potatoes, pakora, chicken tikka masala and 2 kinds of naan. not the best indian i've had, but not bad at all. the people here aren't the friendliest at first, but if you make a request they do their best to make you happy and then they ask you if they got it right. there is a definite lack of decor, but that didn't bother us at all. not many tables in there, but they seemed to do a lot of take out business.

i came in for a fast chai on the way to work and ended up having to wait so long i was late for work. i ordered and paid before i found out they had no soy milk (which the man taking the order apparently knew but didn't tell me). he said he would go get some and as it turns out that meant going down the street to buy some from the store, not grabbing some out of a storeroom. the other people standing around did nothing to prep the rest of the things for the chai (like steeping the tea) so when the guy got back from the store making the chai still took several minutes more and it was so weak it wasn't worth waiting for. this was an extremely aggravating experience and i don't expect i'll go back.

i won a dinner here and used that last sunday at 7pm. my friend and i were the only customers there. the server was very friendly but could have been a bit more polished. in a place that charges the prices they do and has the look it has, i expect polished service:menu knowledge, customer interaction, etc. they served a pork amuse bouche, and set it down in front of us without asking if we ate meat, or pork in particular (which my friend doesn't). my app was a corn and crab chowder, but the bowl was 95% broth. a chowder should have all sorts of stuff in it. my main was the tahitiion bean braised short rib & that was fabulous. extremely tender and flavorful. the white truffle risotto w/it was forgettable, tho. my dessert, the chocolate cake, was so good. i really enjoyed that. also, the bread they served with the meal was fantastic. the menu items all sounded so good, but i don't get the feel that they have it all together. i think they're trying and can get there, tho.

I came here hoping to get breakfast because I thought they served it all day, but I was wrong. So I got the special, BBQ sandwich. it wasn't bad, but I don't expect much from BBQ outside of Texas. Anyway- that and a couple sides and a soda was $15. I didn't expect that high a price for the special of the day. There was definitely a lot of food, but I would have preferred less food and a lower price. The servers seemed disinterested in serving, but the line moved quickly. As some of the other reviewers have said, it's a good place to get something filling, fast. But it is hot tray food, just know that going in.

I ordered the Buddha's delight and the cashew chicken. The chicken was a little bland, but there was plenty of it and when I added a little soy it was great. The Buddha's delight didn't have much tofu, but plenty of great veggies. It had a different flavor than I'm used to, but not bad by any means. I enjoyed everything and the price was right. Apparently my group was there on a night when everything was on at hamano's. the service was excellent, as was the foodmy group got there aat about 6:45 on a monday night. we were immediately seated and the waitress let us take our time over the menu. we ordered the miso soup for all 4 of us and 3 apps to split between the table, then 2 entrees and 4 different sushi rolls. the food came in a very timely manner and it was all excellent. the calamari salad had a wasabi dressing that worked perfectly. the lamb app was wasn't overcooked. the salmon teriyaki wasn't so sweet that it tasted like candy. they have a set of rolls they've created which have a wonderful flavor. i particularly liked the castro roll. but they also do staples like the alaskan roll (my favorite staple sushi). each dish had a different set of flavors, and all were done well. overall, i liked the restaurant.

I took my family here when they visited. everyone who goes to napa/sonoma with me goes here. the food is quality, no frills, no pretense. it's fresh, made well, the staff is so sweet. i've had both breakfast and brunch here on several occassions and I have never been let down by them.

i went here with some friends and we had a lovely dinner. our waitress was so friendly and she made great suggestions. one friend had the sole and it was fantastic, another had the steak, and i had the gnocchi with the calamari bolognese. mine was a little salty, but the other 2 were fantastic, especially the sole. the deserts were great too. whereas i don't think of it as my favorite kind of italian food, it was good food. i wouldn't mind going back. glasses were always promptly refilled, all questions were answere and the food was brought in good time. i was happy with the place.

i wasn't totally thrilled with their pizza because it was a slice of cheese where they piled on the mushrooms that i asked for then covered it with more cheese and rebaked it, but the cheese slice itself was alright. it's better than some in the area and not as good as others. but it's a decent choice and it's cheap.

needed a quick lunch and it had the shortest line. the people are so nice in there, but the food leaves a lot to be desires. i don't care for their bagels (i've tried this place 2x), and i don't care for their bagel sandwiches. the one i got today was dry and so huge i couldn't take a bite of it without getting everything all over myself. if the people weren't so nice i'd give it a negative review. but you try it for yourself, maybe you'll like it more than me.

really good burritto, but way more expensive than others in the area. the guacamole was fabulous, as was the salsa. the gentleman preparing my burritto seemed to take quite a bit of pride in his work, which impressed me. the burrittos are smaller than the others around town (and by smaller i mean the size of an average meal rather than the size of 2 or 3 meals). chips are not included. guac, cheese, etc are $1.60 extra. . so my burritto with everything and no chips was over $8. but it was incredibly good. i went in there because of the huge crowds i generally see there. the day i went in there was no line to order but getting it did take another 10mins after i ordered. many people were sitting around waiting for their food, but no one seemed upset about a wait. lots of smiles when someone's # was called. don't know how oftern i'll get here, but the food is very good.

this place was great! I won a dinner for 2 here and used it on a saturday night. I went at 8pm so that we could catch the live jazz show at 830. we both did the prix fixe menu which gave us a small plate, large plate and dessert for $32. I got the pan roasted trout, seafood tangine and chocolate cake w/gelato. my friend got the softshell crab, ny steak and the chocolate espresso pot du creme. I don't think we could have asked for better food. everything was timed perfectly. the food had fabulous flavors and was the perfect amount. my friend who normally takes about 30 minutes to eat 1/2 a sandwich scarfed down each serving and tried to lick the plate. i think that deserves a positive review. also, we were seated promptly and the staff was so attentive and had great attitudes. i was truly very happy with this place and will go back. they served a rosemary bread as well, which was fantastic! i ate too much of that. they have live music other nights as well.

Maybe i just showed up on a bad day, but i was not happy with this place. the waiter was fabulous and friendly, but the food was really bad. i got there in the middle of the lunch buffet time, so i thought fresh food would be a safe bet, but i was wrong. the stuff on the buffet was not as fresh as it could have been, for sure. it's not veggie friendly by any means, most of the dishes were meat dishes. good for my friend, but not so great for me. but she said she found a lot of bones and cartiledge in the chicken tikka masala, so that wasn't appreciated. the spinach and cheese dish tasted more like creamed spinach than an indian dish. the potatoe and cauliflower had almost no flavor. the one thing i thought they really did right, though, was the naan. their naan was fabulous. i am in no rush to get back there and have more, though. i'd rather go a block further to the naan and curry down columbus.

They have snacks, soups, salads, burrittos, sandwiches, etc. they're not fancy, but the food is decent, good chai, decent prices, friendly staff. as a bonus, it's a great way to support the center and there's free wireless! I've enjoyed their burritto and their wild blueberry crumbcake. I wasn't as happy with their veggie burger, but some friends enjoyed it well enough. give them a try!

I have to give the owners of lime big thanks for hosting the SF Organizing Project fundraiser tonight. I was impressed by their generosity! They offered free appetizers all night and I have to say, if those are any indication of their menu's quality, I'm heading back to Lime soon! They served mini-burgers, fish tacos (my favorite- they were spicy with guac, fresh salsa, lettuce and some of the best pieces of fish I've had in a long time), seared tuna on rice chips, deviled eggs, and grilled cheese with a tomato soup dipping sauce. It was all fantastic. And the waitstaff all were so kind and happy to be there. I will definitely go there for a dinner sometime soon!

This place is nice. It doesn't stay empty for long, so if you get there when there isn't a line, count yourself lucky and order quickly. It carries all the basics of a good bakery - pastries, cookies, pies, breads & muffins. Most of them have an Italian heritage, but not all- I definitely saw a Napolean there today. They do a really nice job wih their stuff though. It's more expensive than most bakeries in the mission, but when you factor in the quality of the product and the ingredients it's definitely not out of line. I drop in for a quick little sweet every once in a while and have yet to be dissappointed. sometimes when there's a crowd though, don't forget to take a number.

This place is alright. Their tortillas are fabulous! I had a burritto, and it was alright. My first bite was almost nothing but tortilla and sour cream and that didn't bode well to me, but after a couple bites there were the beans and rice and salsa, etc. And it had good flavor. the price was a little more than some other places around ($4.80 vegetarian, $6.60 meat) the neighborhood is generally cheaper for burrittos, but it wasn't ridiculously higher. But my friend who had a carne asada burritto said the meat was really fatty and a bit tough. the place was packed full of people, though. it was getting good business. maybe that's part location (right at the bart station) or maybe they're generally better than we got today. i would consider going again to give them another try. not great this time, but not bad.

I don't understand why, both times I've been here now, the place has been almost empty! they have fabulous food! the prices are right along, actually, with pancho villa which is just around the corner from them, but both are more expensive for some things than most taquerias. i've had a deluxe taco ($2.50 veggie, $3.25 meat) and a deluxe burritto ($5.25 veggie, $6.25 meat) and both were filling, flavorful and well made. while they were pricey they gave a lot more of the more expensive ingredients like guacamole than some other places, and they did so consistantly. the staff were a little quirky, but in a good way. they have a salsa bar and some grat salsas on it. definitely worth checking out if you get the chance. this may become one of my new favorite places.

I really like the food here. they have such a nice selection of things, many types of pastries and cookies. always smells fabulous, too. they also sell handmade tamales. they aren't the shredded meat tamales that i grew up with, though- they have huge chunks of vegetables and meats in them. very tasty though. you can get vegetarian ones as well as meat ones there. the only problem i've had with this place is that a couple of times i've gotten home and realized that one of the pastries had some mold on it. i think that maybe they make more than they can sell and don't rotate the product as much as they should. but that has rarely happened.

I really like this place. It has a very small grocery selection, and in the back is a counter where you can order taqueria selections of things like burrittos, enchiladas, etc. this place also makes it's own tortillas, chips, tamales, etc. very nice people, good prices. it closes fairly early though, 6pm lately is what i've noticed. i've been here a few times now and have ordered a few types of burrittos, bought their tortillas and chips and have been very happy with all of it. good stuff!

I have been told, and the similarities in the food make me believe that this restaurant is owned by the people of casa mexicana. my feelings for this one are the same as my feelings for casa mexicana: wish i could say i liked it more, but all i like are the salsa bar and the staff. i feel like the food is bland.

i have not been terribly impressed with the flavors here, because i haven't found much flavor here. i always wanted to to like this place because the people serving are so friendly and i really love the salsa bar. the salsa has flavor, but the veggie burritto does not. they have an extensive menu, though and i have by no means tried it all, but what i have tried has not satisfied. but the place always looks clean and i never felt rushed there.

I found the food to be mostly bland. They have decent salsas and chips and the enchiladas weren't bad, but the burrittos had no flavor. I tried them many times because they were around the corner from my school. I could get in and out fast usually. But, unfortunately, I was generally dissappointed with what I got and the price I got it for (far too expensive a burritto, but it's right there in the middle of the tourist part of town so the price was to be expected I suppose). Some of the staff are quite friendly, but others are completely disinterested in customers. So, overall, I guess this place is hit and miss.

They have really nice food here. I've had their veggie burgers and fries many times, each time telling myself I would try something new, but I just liked them so much I kept getting them. Their portions are huge and the place always smells great. They'll add whatever you like to anything. Unfortunately there aren't many veggie options. But they, in the last few months, remade their interior and the place looks fabulous. My major gripe with them is they take soooo long to get the food to you. I would try and grab something before class and always had to spend way more time waiting on it than I expected (even when I thought I was giving them plenty of extra time I'd wait longer than I thought). So be sure you give them a long time. Prices are good (veggie burger and fries, about $7), people are friendly. Good neighborhood place.

this place is awesome! they make some fantastic cookies, muffins, cupcakes, cakes, breads & quiches. their sandwiches are okay (good ideas, but not so great execution. they taste like they've been in a refridgerator for a few hours. which they have.) anyways- the people are great, but sometimes the service is a little slow, which can be frustrating. and they usually have a line of people waiting to be served. but they always have a friendly attitude and the food is generally worth the wait.

you definitely have to try the cookies and the muffins at this place, but i would skip the sandwiches. for a bakery to make their sandwiches on what seems like store bought white bread, to me, seems disappointing at the very least. also skip the bagels, they tast like a ring of white bread. definitely not made in the traditional way. but their cookies and their muffins are quite tasty! and they sell day-olds for 1/2 price! the flavors are interesting and 1 is definitely enough to satisfy (they're double sized). quite a few outlets all over downtown.

such sweet people here! and really great lotus seed buns! and, for me, that's the mark of a good asian bakery: lotus seed paste filled items. good prices, nice people, great location since the L stops so close outside. you grab a sweet and be on your way downtown. right across from the safeway, too. you can get all your shopping down in a flash! they have a few tables so you can sit and chat with someone if you like. it's just a nice atmosphere.

the food is a bit overwhelming in appearance, everything is so huge! the hamentaschen are as big as a face! everything i had tasted good, though. they have 4 flavors of piroshke (sorry if i spell anything incorrectly) i saw: meat, potato, mushroom, and cabbage. i tried the potato and my friend tried the meat. we both liked them, though the were a bit greasy. she's been there many times and always likes the eclairs and the poppyseed filled pastries. i liked the poppyseed as well and tried the almond cookies dipped in chocolate and a cheese danish-like pastry, which were also nice, though the almond was a little sweet for me. the prices were very reasonable ($1.50 for a piroshke, $5.99/lb for the poppyseed), the have beautiful breads for sale as well as many other things. the service was a little lacking, tho. they seemed annoyed that neither of us was russian (that's my guess, since everyone else in there spoke with a thick russian accent). but nothing terrible.

i've only had good experiences with their food. the service at this one is definitely better than the service in the mission. and the desserts are fabulous. i rarely buy desserts at restaurants because i always see them as overpriced and rarely good, but the carrot cake here is truly fabulous. i enjoyed their tacos and the veggie appetizer. i do think their a little expensive, but not so much so that i would say it's not worth it. i go fairly often.

i keep trying to get back to this place because i loved it so much when i went there, so i figured i'd review it so other people will have a chance to try it. it really is fabulous and i agree about the yum yum eggplant- that stuff is amazing. it's chunks of small eggplants that have a slightly sweet sauce (normally i don't go for sweet entres unless i'm haveing dessert for dinner) chock full of garlic! so good. and their onion pancakes- YUM!! my goodness those are fabulous! i could eat 3 servings of that on my own! the prices are great, the service was great, overall, i give them a gold star.

I have had several burrittos here, and I have to say, they're not bad. I don't tink the servers are very friendly, and because of that i go to my favorite, taqueria el castillito far more often (it's church a little south of duboce. they seem to be much nicer people). the food at zapata is good, but they only let you have a couple things of hot sauce to take home. i love hot sauces in my eggs the following mornings and so to not get hot sauce as i leave is a tragedy to me. but everything is fresh there and they have nice tables where you can sit (of course all of this depends on if you can find a place to park seeing as how it's in the castro). in summary, good food but needs better service.

this was excellent food and service. high quality ingredients, well timed cooking so everything comes out hot and not overcooked. i was here in a party of 5 people and each of us left happy. there's an ample veggie menu as well as a meat eaters menu. the prices are certainly higher than the rest of chinatown, but it's worth it. beautiful views out the huge windows as well. i had a prawn and scallop dish and was quite impressed because they were all perfectly cooked. my father had the wonton soup (his favorite chinese soup) and said it was excellent. the portions are just big enough to satisfy your appetite.

avacado egg rolls and cheesecake, that's what i go there for. their plates are huge and you can really get stuffed here, be careful. you'll probably order far more than you can eat. you don't need both an appetizer and an entre here unless you just want leftovers. the food is not bad for a chain. but what they do best is the cheesecake. and there are so many flavors to choose from it's really ridiculous. but if you go with other people, everyone should order a different flavor so you can all try as many as possible. but they are very rich and heavy- the tuxedo cheesecake is great, as is the tiramisu. this time of year (holiday time) or during heavy tourist season i would avoid the place, because as they say, the lines are horrrendous. last time i went was late evening (9pm) and i still had to wait about 20 mins.

i love this place! it was the first bakery i went to in SF when i was checking out the city. i got their lotus seed paste buns and black bean paste buns and red bean paste buns. they were so good! i checked it out because it was the only place i saw in chinatown that had a line to get in, and all the people in line looked like they were from the neighborhood, so i thought it must be authentic or at least good. i've been here many times since and still love the place. you may not get someone who speaks english, and there is not too much room for customers inside (though more room than some places in chinatown), but the prices are great, the food is great, and there's a good mix of items to choose from. i have never tried the egg custards there, but reading the other reviews i will try them next time i go in!

i have to say this is my favorite burritto place. great flavors, huge portions so you have leftovers. not a huge menu, but they have the basics. they are so friendly here and the place is always so clean. they now sell their salsas (yay!).

first time i was there the place was fantastic. good homestyle comfort food. the second time, they had changed the menu to more eclectic food. it wasn't as good 2nd time around. i was a bit dissappointed. but the quality was good, i just wasn't a fan of the flavors that time. i seemed to be in the minority of the group though. take what you will from that.

almost everything i've had here was really good. pricey, but the portions are huge. enough to take some home for the next day. only one thing was so-so (pumpkin cheesecake). but everything else was fabulous! rich, flavorful, not overly sweet. doesn't taste like you're just eating sugar. the fruit is fresh.

i have to agree with the other reviews on the page. if you have a huge craving and this is the only indian restaurant you can get to, it'll do, but i wouldn't ask someone to go there with me. not bad, but i've certainly had better, much better.

i've been here many times, even tho i think it's overpriced, because it's got great service and they always seat our large party (9+ usually) with no waiting. they're nice and the food is well made. the place is clean and relaxed and quiet. worth a try.

good for on the run! the small portions are large enough to satisfy and they have a nice variety of flavors. if you want a quick lunch that's not pricey, definitely try this. both vegetarian and non veggie. if you get there at the end of the day i've found they reduce the price so as not to throw aways whats left when they close, so you may get a discount on a fast dinner!

you must have breakfast here. it's good food and a good price. go early or else you'll be waiting for a while. if it's raining, bring an umbrella because there isn't anything to stand under while you wait. i had a really nice scramble and my friend had fantastic pancakes. we waited about 20 or 25 minutes i think, but it was worth it.

this place really doesn't seem to know the meaning of the word restraint. they give you a mountain of food. i always have more than enough for a take home. it is good flavor, tho. they do a nice job. i would definitely reccommend them. i particularly like the azteca burritto. nice sauce.

this place is fabulous! but it's packed at dinner. try to come at an off time if you haven't made reservations. the food has a great flavor and a great price. everyone i've brought here, vegetarian or not, found something on they menu they loved. waitstaff was attentive, veggies were crisp, everything was fresh.

i often have tea here and it's a nice place, but the music indoors is quite loud. i have to shout if i want to speak to the people i'm with there. the atmosphere is nice outside, tho. great place to hang out in the castro. horrible parking situation of course. i haven't tr4ied their food tho.

i had a dragon roll there and it was definitely tastey. good prices and a nice variety of sushi. plenty for the vegetarians. open late. plenty of seating. parking is hard to find tho. on top of the cheap prices, the safeway stores in the area generally have coupons on the back of the register receipts for kiki's, so you can get the sushi for almost nothing.

know you will wait. and you will wait a while. but i definitely think the wait is worth it. it's amazing sushi, maybe the best i've ever had. creative combinations, great prices. the hawaiian roll was my favorite, with the macadamia nuts on the outside. the spicy tuna was fantastic too. we also had a pickeld plum roll and that was really interesting. good variety, good prices, nice sushi chef. just make sure you don't have a time limit or are starving when you get there.

this one is not bad for a piece on the run, but the one in noe valley is actually good. they'll make a slice to order and the flavor on those is fabulous! but at 14th st i'll just grab a slice with mushrooms to go and it's fast and decent.

if you want cheap, fast indian food this is a good place to go. free, hot chai is a nice addition. but the food is oily and not the highest quality for sure. but you know how sometimes the cheap stuff is what you're craving? that's what this place is for me, the cheap stuff i want sometimes. the staff is not the friendliest, tho. sometimes that's annoying.

this place is fabulous! the owners are so kind and welcoming and the food is really delicious. great prices and a great vegetarian menu as well. lots of mock meats makes for a huge variety on the vegetarian menu. good prices as well. i suggest eating in the restaurant, the portions are larger, which allows for leftovers (and everything is even better the 2nd day) and, with the soups, when you eat in you get a larger variety of vegetables in the pot.

this place is fabulous! i really loved it. reminded me of the food i got in texas. more expensive than most of the tquerias in town, but you get huge portions and can take leftovers home or split the dish with someone. but the flavor is there and the freshness and quality of the food is really up there. worth the money. just realize if you hit it at the regular mealtimes, you're going to wait in a long line.
