papalote makes a really great salsa. in addition, i agree with bastion...the soyrizo burro is really darn good (be warned that it is salty). prices are also very fair. i'd go back again and again.

honestly, i really want to like herbivore. the truth is that i have been consistently unimpressed with their entrees. it just hasn't tasted as though they have really gotten the flavoring down, particularly with the noodles. on the other hand, the vegan carrot cake and chocolate cake are both really darn good.

okay, let me start by saying that the burro is good. even very good. the prices are way cheap. now for the downsides. some of the food handling is a bit questionable and the chips are not so great (but they are free with the burro, so i ought not complain too much).

i am an ass. i have only been to tartine once. it was a sublime experience. if sfsurvey had a double positive rating i think i'd have to award it to tartine. i keep thinking i should go back, but have yet to make the trip. one day soon. as far as bakeries go, i think tartine is tops.

i'm a huge cheesecake fan. i have tried their's a few times and it has never really hit the spot. some of the other desserts have been good, but i have never been wowed by this place. somehow their reputation seems to better than their food. truthfully, their are better places for baked goods in the city.

i like this place. if you want to take home something kinda greasy to eat in front of the TV it is a good option. don't expect to be wowed, but it fills the void for fast food. i'm also a fan of the onion rings. certainly a better option than popeye's for those who live in the western addition.

citrus club is one of those places you have to try a couple times in order to figure out what to order there. i have had some disappointing dishes (i recommend you avoid the pad thai), but the hot and sour soup is good, as is the beef and s**taake mushroom noodles (i always substitute chicken). the rolls are also good due to the tasty peanut sauce they are served with. citrus club doesn't get big points for authenticity, but the food is fresh, the portions are generous, and overall it is a place that i like and continue to eat at. probably the best option if you are stuck in the upper-haight cause your girlfriend is shopping.

all around excellent food, however the desserts really stand out here in my opinion. a couple years ago i had a moscarpone dessert that i still dream about. i have also had some excellent fish here. every meal has been fresh and interesting. i would go back again and again. my only complaints are that it can be a touch loud and that the tables are a bit too close together.

fantastical neopolitan-style pizza. these folks know a thing or two about taking flour, water, and yeast and turning it into a tasty meal. a thin, delicate, crackery crust. yes indeed, pizzetta 211 is a labor of love. the place is tiny and feels like you are sitting in your friend's kitchen. be prepared to wait during peak dinner hours, but rest assured your wait will be rewarded

well friends, here is where i delve into the world of controversy. la taqueria makes the BEST BURRITO IN THE WHOLE DAMN WORLD. no rice...totally GENIUS. sometimes perfection is all about simplicity, freshness, and attention to detail. that is the case here. go have a vegetarian burrito and add avacado to your order. use a touch of the green hot sauce on your table. your mouth will dance the macarena, i promise.
