This is a grease trap. They are a stones throw from the ocean, yet none of the seafood is served fresh. I do like that they make the waiters do stupid songs and dances, they also have a cruel sense of birthday humiliation. yeah for that.

SF oldest restaurant has a lot of charm, but the menu and foods are pretty old fashioned. Can't go wrong with fresh seafoods, but the flavors aren't integrated. And the rice custard pudding was putrid. I told our server and he was sorry I didn't like it but didn't offer to replace it or take it off the bill. Oh well. None of this will stop me from going back.

This place loves to use unusual ingredients, which normally I'm a fan of, but it freaks some people out (things like bone marrow). The menu is limited, and heavy. Also I'll never forget my salty salad. When I sent it back (which I NEVER do) the waiter returned from the kitchen to question my assessment: "you know the cheese in the salad is rather salty". I was mortified. Yes, cheese is salty, but in this case your chef is heavy handed with his seasoning. For all these reasons, the restaurant is just alright.

I was super skeptical because I don't go to the Pier 30 and Ghiradelli Square tourist restaurants as a rule. We were greeted with a "we can't seat you until your whole party is here" even though we were a group of 12 and had trouble finding each other in the crowd. When we finally were seated, The room looked amazing. the view is top notch. The menu read very well, I was ready to eat my words. Not so fast. The service was WAY slow, we were seated 45 minutes before we got our drinks and ordered. To be expected for a large table? only in sub par restaurants. Even though the menu is gigantic- they serve every kind of fish you've ever heard of, several of us ordered the same things, and yet they were inconsistent. My Ono was overcooked, but fine, my neighbors was so dry we HAD to send it back. If you have to go; The wine list was great, and I recommend the Ahi. Skip dessert and head to Ghiradelli for a sundae! YUM!

I cannot rave enough uncle vitos! I lived a few blocks from there and moved away. I still long for their hot sandwiches, pizza, and pasta delivered right to my front door. everything is so good. It's definitely one of the best pizza places in the city, but I also love love love the eggplant parmaseana hot sandwich. When you order from there as much as I did, you end up trying everything. I've walked by this place a hundred times, and finally walked in- boy am I glad I did! It's a brew pub so the menu has standard fare, but it's haight street, so they serve "free range buffalo wings" :)
I saw dates there, groups of friends, and even families with small children. It's a perfect environment for a simple casual dinner.
The beers are british style (cask brewed) and task really authentic, but I had the home brewed orange creme soda (no orange food coloring, but all the flavor).

It's curious, there are 2 others pizza places on the same block of Divis but Little Star can't be compared to them, or any other pizza place in the city for that matter. Zachary's in Berekeley is the only real contender. The pie was deep dish perfection, but the ambiance is missing something...

Another neighborhood with soo many choices, Isa is easily overlooked. But do give it a try. If you don't see many people in the dinning room it's because they are all out back on the year round patio. It's definitely the place be!

I loved this place. I should point out that a bowl of ramen is my definition of comfort food. But the sushi is good too, the servings are monstrous! (no, you don't need an appetizer) but the food is wholesome tasty goodness. There are so many great choices in that neighborhood, but this place is definitely worth checking out! (expect a short wait).

I know this place has great dim sum during peak hours, but the lines are soooo long! tour buses even stop off there. I thought maybe going off-peak would be my little secret, but the selection is so much smaller and what does come is greasy instead of fresh and crisp. Over all not worth it.

I recently went back after a long time and the menu did not live up to my memories, or the hype. They gave me free coffee while I waited, so they scored points there, but there a better places for brunch. I had a bite of the chicken hash, and thought it was excellent. That's what I'll order if I go back.

I went here before the symphony. There aren't many good restaurants in that area, so this is a welcome addition. It's mediterainian inspired, but upscale, not falafel. I had a pomegranate chicken dish and just about licked my plate.

I finally went to Barneys after hearing time and again it is arguably the best burger in SF...well, I sure hope not. The menu offers a dozen or so burger variations (I has the parisienne; burger with blue cheese, and pickled onions on a baguette) but the meat patty is just average. I did however REALLY enjoy the onion rings!
